Petit Four Pastries Pop Up Shop At les amis du Fromage April 5th

petitfourprofileLes amis du Fromage at 843 East Hastings Street is hosting another great Pop Up Shop this Saturday. They have invited their new friends from Petit Four Pastries who they discovered during a recent visit to the Baker’s Market in South Vancouver. The upcoming Pop Up Shop will showcase the talents of the four bakers behind Petit Four Pastries being Ada, Alyssa, Carol and Minnie. The ladies met in pastry school a couple of years ago and opened their new venture in January of this year. Their sweet treats have been selling like hot cakes from the get go.  This Saturday, the ladies from Petit Four Pastries will have a selection of decorative cookies, mint brownies, almond financiers which happen to be gluten free and small bite-sized desserts also known as petit four.  The Pop Up Shop is located directly next to les amis du fromage’s East Van location at 843 East Hastings Street and will be open from Noon – 5 pm this Saturday.  If you miss them there, will the ladies will be back at the Baker’s Market at the Moberly Arts & Cultural Centre on April 20th, 27th and May 4th.

Shut The Front Door! Blurs The Lines At Astorino’s April 6th

I tell you that Sara Bynoe (pictured far right) really gets around. Word master that she is I’m sure she won’t mind a little play on words. I am of course talking about her many appearances about town whether it’s her Say Wha? events or her latest endeavor, being part of the line up at Shut The Front Door!   This show is a mix of spoken word and comedians blurring the lines between stand up and spoken word.   The event will be hosted by Brendan McLeod featuring some local talent including Graham Clark, Cheryl Maddaena, Sara Bynoe, Fernando Raguero and Al Mader aka “The Minimalist Jug Band”.   The event takes place at Astorino’s Hall, 1739 Venables Street this Sunday, April 6th and gets under way at 1:00 pm. Tickets are $10 in advance via PayPal or $12 at the door. Note cash sales only at the door.  Shut The Front Door! Some local designers are having a sale this week at the Skout Agency, #130 – 1355 Parking Street.  Expect to find some amazing deals on a range of unqiue clothing items for men and women, shoes and accessories. Designers participating in this sale include Colcci, Chaser, Bedstu Footwear, Louie Et Lucie, Lucca Couture, Pink Stitch, Covet and Thursday Island.  Sale runs Thursday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 5th from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  This is a cash only event, but there is an ATM on site.
