East Van Garden Tour June 16, 2024

1 Jun

If you enjoy wandering around lovely gardens and green spaces, you may wish to check out the East Van Garden Tour happening Sunday, June 16th.  This is a self-guided garden tour that features about a dozen home gardens with a mix of flower and vegetable gardens as well as fruit trees. There will be a home gardener or Master Gardener on each site to chat with and ask any questions you may have.  The event is the only fundraiser for the volunteer group Britannia Neighbours and proceeds from ticket sales go towards maintaining the Napier Square Greenway at Napier & Commercial Drive. This includes paying someone from the Kettle Friendship Society to regularly pick up litter and hand water the lush Greenway.

Tickets for the East Van Garden Tour are $20 and available online through Eventbrite, or in person at Figaro’s Garden Centre, 1896 Victoria Drive (at 3rd Avenue) – cash only. Once you’ve purchased your ticket, you attend at Figaro’s Garden Centre on the morning of June 16th to obtain your map. After that you head off on your own tour with map and choose where you wish to start your tour. Gardens are open and available until 4:00 pm.  There is ample time to stop for a coffee before, during or after the event. The East Van Garden Tour allows you to go at your own pace and is a great opportunity to see some beautiful gardens tucked away behind fences you might otherwise have the opportunity see.
