Rescue Me: Spunky Looking For Her Forever Home

24 Mar

SpunkyVanSPCA

Hi my name is Spunky. I am an 11 year young female lioness, hear me roar! OK, so maybe it’s more of a meow, but I do like to talk and play. Did I mention I’m looking for a forever home? If you want to come see if we’d get along, I am hanging out at the Vancouver SPCA Branch temporarily because my owner passed away :-(.   I do love the folks here at the SPCA, they give me lots of love and play, but I’d really like my own cuddle companion. If you come to see me, I can be a bit shy at first, but promise I’m yours forever if you give me a chance to warm up to you.

If you or someone you know could give me a new home, the Vancouver SPCA would love to hear from you.  You can reach the Vancouver SCPA by email at Vancouver@spca.b.ca or by phone or 604.879.7721, or stop by and see me at 1205 East 7th Avenue. Thanks!  If you wish to share my story on Twitter or Facebook with your friends so I have a better chance of finding a new forever home, I would be very grateful.

UPDATED MARCH 24TH.  Spunky thanks you.  She has now found her forever home.

Rescue Me: Charlie & Friends at Vancouver SPCA Looking For Their Forever Homes

Hi, my name is Charlie.  I am a 7 year old male cat. Some may say I’m a bit of a tomcat.  I am a well behaved indoor kitty who was used to living in an apartment until my elderly owner became ill. Now my temporary home is the Vancouver SPCA.  I am now looking for a new forever home.  I am friendly with people, will purr like crazy if you scratch my cheeks. I must be honest though and tell you I am not used to being around lots of people, kids or dogs.  After hanging out at the shelter for a bit, I have learnt I don’t really like other cats all that much, bit of an independent spirit I guess.  I do enjoy playing with my toys and like to use my scratching post.  Like most pets I do like a nice routine. I think I would be perfect company for an adult living alone.  If you want to see me online, you can check me out on my video.  Check out my beautiful green eyes, aren’t they lovely? Do you know someone who would like a handsome tomcat to hang out with?

While you are stopping by, can I introduce you to some of my shelter buddies? Like me, they are looking for a forever home.  Meet my friends Clover & Marigold and Jasmine & Astrid. They are bonded pairs of young female rabbits that came from a home with way too many bunnies. They said there were 11 of them that came together, but now they are the only 4 remaining from the original group. They are looking for a cool forever home to hang out at.  Do you know someone that could give them a home?  They are such beautiful bunnies.

If you or someone you know could give me or my friends a home, the Vancouver SPCA would love to hear from you, heck we’d love to hear from you, but you have to come see us for that.  You can reach the Vancouver SCPA by email at Vancouver@spca.b.ca or by phone or 604.879.7721, or stop by and see us at 1205 East 7th Avenue. Thanks!  If you wish to share this on Twitter or Facebook with your friends, we won’t mind.

Rescue Me – Teak & Shadow Looking For Their Forever Home

24 Jun

Teak&Shadow

Welcome to the first installment of Rescue Me.  Two weeks ago we featured the SPCA’s over 60 year history in East Vancouver.  Every two weeks we will be featuring animals waiting to be adopted into their forever homes.    This week we would like to introduce you to Teak and Shadow.  They are actually media darlings having recently been featured on Global BC News.

Teak and Shadow are quite the duo.  Happy dogs until their previous guardian passed away and they found themselves without a home. Teak and Shadow are completely bonded like canine sisters, so it is imperative that they are adopted together. Teak is a 12 year old fluffy Pomeranian who loves to eat and will always have a smile for you.    Shadow, also 12, is a very cute schnauzer-terrier cross and if you watch the Global video clip, you will see she is quite the dancer.   Both dogs are a bit shy and timid in their new environment after the loss of their guardian. To help reduce their anxiety, their new home should be patient and willing to work on slow introductions to new people and situations.   These girls are vocal so are best suited for a detached house with people that are home most of the day, but like all dogs need their leisurely walks. Like all animals up for adoption,  Teak and Shadow deserve their forever home. So if you sound like the right companion for them, or know someone who might be, the Vancouver SPCA is waiting to hear from you.

By way of update, the darling blind cat Snowflake featured on June 10th is still waiting for her forever home. As are the little dachsunds, Wendy and Joey. Do you know someone that might be able to give them their forever home?  Please let them know with an email, a call, a tweet or a Facebook share.
