Vancouver By-Election Saturday April 5th – Vote!

2 Apr

This Saturday, April 5th there is a Vancouver By-Election to fill two vacant seats on Vancouver City Council.  Traditionally, by-elections don’t have the largest voter turnout, but we see there is a marked increase in attendance for this particular by-election. If you are not up to speed on who to vote for or who is running, here are a few places you can check out for more information:

The Daisy Theatre Returns To The Cultch September 23rd to October 12th

Back by popular demand!  The Daisy Theatre returns to The Cultch for a run on September 23rd to October 12th.  This was a sold out show in 2013 and has been billed by The Georgia Straight as “one of the best shows you’ll ever see”. This season’s edition promises new variety acts and characters in addition to some favourites for those that did not get a chance to see last year’s show.   You can expect each performance to not only be different, but daring and ridiculous.  Ronnie Burkett, puppeteer provocateur and his company of over 30 marionettes will have you roaring in the aisles.   If you wish to get a sense of last year’s show, check out the review in the Vancouver Sun. Don’t be surprised if the show starts with a burlesque number, but then with Ronnie you just never know, but be prepared to be shocked. The shock value is part of the fun. Tickets range from $18.01 to $50.48 and if interested, best be quick on the ticket purchase. It is expected to be another sold out run.  Note, the show does have a running time of 90 – 120 minutes with no intermission.
