Fraser Valley Cider Masterclass – Everything Wine Vancouver – May 10th

If you love cider, you may wish to check out the Fraser Valley Cider Masterclass at Everything Wine in River District.  You will get the opportunity to learn about and taste small batch ciders along with some treats.  Cost is $15 and event gets under way at 6:30 pm. Artisan Pottery Sale – Trout Lake Community Centre  – May 10th and 11th

An Artisan Pottery Sale is happening this Friday & Saturday at the Trout Lake Community Centre. You just might find a beautiful gift for mom.  Sale happens Friday from 4:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

La Maison Lust Presents WET – Rio Theatre – May 10th & 11th

The Rio Theatre plays host to an exotic cabaret experience this Friday and Saturday night. Think a Little Mermaid Tale reimagined.  Show takes place at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $40 in advance or $45 at the door. For tickets, visit Rio Theatre.

Bake Sale – Trout Lake Community Centre – May 11th

Trout Lake Seniors are hosting a Bake Sale this Sunday, May 11th from 9 am – 3 pm. Stop by and pick up something homemade.

Stone Soup Festival – Napier Greenway – May 11th

The 24th Annual Stone Soup Festival happens Saturday from Noon to 5:00 pm in the Napier Greenway next to the Britannia Community Centre. This is a community event celebrating local food, sustainability, the environment and will feature artists, local vendors, live music and free soup. We’ll be there. Stop by and say hello.

EcoSew Workshop – Our Social Fabric – May 11th

Main Street Mixed Bag – Ellis Building – May 12th

Looking for some local gifts for mom, or maybe yourself? Main Street Mixed Bag happens this Sunday at the Ellis Building, 1024 Main Street, from 11 am to 5 pm. Varinicey Pakoras will be on hand if you get hungry while shopping.

Movie ‘Mamma Mia’ – Rio Theatre – May 12th 

Did you catch the last Mamma Mia! with the big wedding and Cher?! It’s playing this Sunday afternoon at 4:15 pm. A fun thing to do with mom for Mother’s Day after a leisurely brunch or before dinner. For tickets, visit Rio Theatre.

LIVE MUSIC, ENTERTAINMENT & COMEDY

Looking for more live music, did you know The Heatley in Strathcona regularly features live music?  Every Sunday they offer bluegrass music with brunch 11 am – 3 pm.

Also 7 days a week, you will find live music at the Libra Room on The Drive. Tangent Café hosts live jazz Sunday nights  from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Saturday, Pat’s Pub has live jazz Saturday afternoons from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, no cover.

Looking to shop local? Be sure to check out one of the farmer markets happening this weekend.
