Sweet Pop up – les amis du fromage (East Van Location) – December 20

Scrape Baking is having a Christmas Pop Up at les amis du fromage’s East Van location, 843 East Hastings Street today (Friday) between 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Baker, Anastasia Bosc, specializes in gourmet cookies and bars.  Lots of delish items in one place for that holiday gathering including, of course, an amazing selection of cheese.

Kind’a Last Minute Zero Waste Holiday – Kind Café – December 20

Have someone eco-friendly on your shopping list? Or wanted to be more eco-friendly in your gift giving this Christmas? If so, check out the last minute holiday market at the Kind Café, 3080 Main Street this Friday night from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.  Some vendors on hand include Fluster, Coastie Craft Burgers, Mala The Brand, Vagabond Collectibles, Living Lotus Foods and Nana and Co.

Women’s Winter Faire – Heritage Hall – December 21 and 22

Sounds and Furies presents the Women’s Winter Faire at Heritage Hall this Saturday and Sunday. The Women’s Winter Faire has been running for 25 years and features over 50 booths of creative, funky, beautiful, ecologically-sound and diverse items perfect for gift giving.  Event runs 11:00 am to 5:00 pm both days and admission is by donation $3 to $5 suggested with proceeds going to a local charity.

VoiceStory Live ‘Family’ – The Cultch – December 22

VoiceStory exists to provide a safe, positive space where any adult, regardless of age, gender, race or sexual orientation, can share a moment of their lives and inspire others.   This event is not about promoting a business, pitching you a product or trying to sign you up for a program. It is about putting away our cell phone and listening to and being with others. People tell stories about life, fear, great adventures and more.  This Sunday’s topic is Family.   Special General Admission price this Sunday so you can bring your family with you $15 per person.

Twisted Christmas Party (The Wrong Show) – Waldorf Hotel – December 22

A group of local female comedians take the stage this Sunday at the Waldorf Hotel to bring you a Twisted Christmas Party.  The features the likes of Mrs. Santa Claus, It’s A Wonderful Leaf (vs. Life) and The East Van Grinch.  Expect a crazy apron contents, post show dancing. Local entrepreneur and weed diva, Watermelon takes part as does burlesque queen Burgundy Brixx.  Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. For advance tickets, visit, Eventbrite.

Movie ‘It’s A Wonderful Life – Rio Theatre – December 22

Looking to take in a classic Christmas movie on the big screen?  The Rio Theatre is showing It’s A Wonderful Life this Sunday at 3:30 pm.

Aurora Winter Festival – Hastings Park/PNE – Until January 5, 2020

The Aurora Winter Festival continues at Hastings Park/PNE with an array of indoor and outdoor activities, Christmas Market, games, rides.  This is an all ages event. For tickets, visit Ticketleader.

East Van Panto: Pinocchio – The York – On Now Until January 5, 2020

Our favourite holiday tradition is now on at the York Theatre until January 5th.  Take in this fun and entertaining show that is fun for all ages. Just remember if you are in the front row, you might become part of the production. This year’s panto is Pinocchio and touches on some unique aspects in East Van, such as the mysterious Beckwoman and the coffee wars on The Drive for starters. Tickets for the East Van Panto Pinocchio start at $26 for children 16 and under. Family packs are available for $145. To get your tickets, visit The Cultch.

Do you love cartoons? Miss those Saturday morning cartoons you used to watch as a kid. Do you know Storm Crow Tavern offers cartoons Saturday morning from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm whilst you enjoy breakfast/brunch?

Also 7 days a week, you will find live music at the Libra Room on The Drive. Tangent Café hosts live jazz Sunday nights  from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Saturday, Pat’s Pub has live jazz Saturday afternoons from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, no cover.

Stop by one of the Winter Farmer Markets happening on either Saturday or Sunday.  Saturday we have  Riley Park Farmers Market at 30th & Ontario from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and Sunday, it’s Hastings Park Winters Farmers Market also from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
