The Portuguese Kids Present: Faz O Relax! At The York Theatre October 22nd

For anyone that has grown up with immigrant parents, you will likely find something relatable when the Portuguese Kids come to town Saturday, October 22nd with Faz O Relax! The Portuguese Kids are an ethnic based comedy group from Massachusetts, USA. For nearly two decades, they have been highlighting the funnier side of growing up as first generation kids of immigrant parents. The show is a mix of sketch comedy and improv comedy. They say it’s like SNL meets Who’s Line is it, Anyway? but with an ethnic twist. The show is performed in English 90% of the time. Joining them on stage will be Luso-Canadian standup comedian Mike Rita and from California, comedian Taylor Amarante. The show is for one night only, Saturday, October 22nd at the York Theatre. Tickets are $35.25 and $45.25 and available online at The Cultch.

Improv Against Humanity At Cafe Deux Soleils September 30th

Improv Against Humanity is back! The improv group The Fictionals will be taking the stage at Café Deux Soleils on Friday, September 30th to showcase their unique and well honed improvisational talent.   Along with lots of laughs and a fun night, there will be some epic prizes to be won including the Most Horrible Person in Vancouver. Will you be crowned?  You are invited to come check out all the great local talent. Tickets are $10 at the door – cash only. Show gets under way at 9:00 pm.

The Comic Strippers Return To The York Theatre September 9th

If you are looking for some light hearted fun, then you are in luck. The Comic Strippers return to the York Theatre September 9th for another night of laughs. This is a 19+ show featuring a fictitious group of male strippers played by a cast of improvisational comedians.   They sing, dance and gyrate and aim to be sexy, but ending up being funny. They are semi undressed and completely unscripted which makes each show unique as they banter with the crowd during each performance.   To purchase your tickets for a fun night out, visit The Cultch.

The Fictionals Celebrate 8 Years Of Improv Comedy At The Rio Theatre November 21st

According to Daniel Chai, co-creator of The Fictionals and host of Improv Against Humanity, their 8th Anniversary Celebration is going to be an epic night. Daniel tells us “The Fictionals are so lucky to have some of the best audiences who come and laugh with us at every show we do. And of course we want to welcome those who are new to Improv Against Humanity to join the fun!” and “Like any fun birthday party, we want to celebrate with all of our friends, which means the comedy fans of Vancouver.” 

Their epic 8th anniversary celebration happens November 21st at the Rio Theatre. On hand will be a special guest comedian, Cameron Macleod from The Hero Show and JFL Northwest.  The show will also crown the newest Most Horrible Person in Vancouver with YOU the audience choosing the winner.   To join in the fun, you can grab your tickets in advance for $12 from the Rio Theatre, or you can grab them for $14 at the door.

Light The Candles – The Fictionals Are Celebrating 5 Years Of Making People Laugh

CakeWithOneCandeYou are invited to come out and help The Fictionals celebrate 5 years of making people laugh. If you don’t know them, The Fictionals’ first show was Show Us Your Wits, an Improv and Burlesque mashup at the former Mermaid Cafe. Since then, the comedy troupe has performed in hundreds of shows, expanded to a cast of 12 players and perform regularly at Cafe Deux Soleils and the Rio Theatre in East Van. On Wednesday, November 18th they will putting on Improv Against Humanity which will be an interactive comedy show at the Rio Theatre.  And really who couldn’t use more laughter in their life.  It’s like exercise, but sitting down. It’s good for you. Add to that, there will be cake!  You can purchase tickets in advance online for $10, or at the door for $12. The laughs get under way at 8:00 pm.
