Vancouver Farmers Markets Kick Off Summer Season

1 May

VFMChardVancouver Farmers Markets bring back summer markets the first weekend of May.  Things will be a bit different in light of COVID-19. Having recently attended Riley Park Winter Farmers Market, my experience showed that vendors were well spaced out and counts were being kept on the number of people entering each area of the market. Granted some vendors had some spaced out lines, personally I prefer standing in a brief line outdoors vs. a long line indoors.

What’s new if you haven’t heard is vendors are now accepting online orders. Currently, you need to pick up your online order from each vendor, but Vancouver Farmers Markets are looking to implement a centralized pick up and delivery in the near future.    Our local farmers and producers need our support during this time and we invite you to keep them in mind when making your weekly grocery shop.  We’ve set out below the markets taking place in East Van. Vancouver Farmers Market at Thornton Park across from the VIA Rail Station kicks off today at 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm.   You can expect to find 26 vendors on hand offering local and organic produce, seafood, meat, coffee, cheese, flowers, jewellery, bread, chocolate, honey and much more.  In case you missed the news, local strawberries are out. You are bound to find some at the market.   Come out and support your local makers!

Remember if are planning to take the Skytrain to make your way to this market, you will need to watch for specific trains that stop only at Main Street while the Main Street Skytrain Station is under construction.

Farmers Market Begins Today at Thornton Park

ILiveInEastVanMAY2013 419If you weren’t able to catch the Farmers Market over the weekend, then you are in luck.  The Vancouver Farmers Market begins today at Thornton Park in front of the Via Rail Station, 1150 Station Street.   This market will run every Wednesday until October 2nd from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.   This location is a perfect stop if you take the Skytrain, as it’s a one block walk from the Main Street Skytrain Station.

While we are talking Vancouver Farmers Market, did you know they have an e-store?  In it you will find t-shirts, coffee mugs, cloth shopping bags, baseball caps, buttons, a cookbook on local foods and my favourite item, a $20 gift certificate redeemable at any of their markets. All items are between $5.00 and $25.00 and available on their Online Shop.  Definitely worth a peak.
