Vancouver Fringe Festival At Havana Theatre Until September 14th

The theatre in Havana Restaurant, 1212 Commercial Drive, is one of the venues hosting the Vancouver Fringe Festival which is on now until September 14th.   You will find a variety of productions on deck at Havana for this year’s festival including:

Seismic Shift Productions and Instant Theatre Present an epic improvised sci-fi adventure where a rag-tag band of space explorers bravely explore new worlds, meet fantastic creatures and create a hilarious original story every single night. Romance! Adventure! Maybe even music?

 Caws and Effect presented by Mind of a Snail Puppet Co.

The crows are re-dreaming the world. Is the future all it’s cracked up to be? Mind of a Snail’s new large scale shadow theatre production is an exploration of survival and extinction from a bird’s eye view. Funny, beautiful and unique, with handmade layered projections, puppetry, masks, and original music.

Fringe legends Tara Travis (“The Unfortunate Ruth,” “Til Death: The Six Wives of Henry VIII”) and Jon Paterson (“Hockey Night at the Puck and Pickle Pub”) join Fringe cult star Kurt Fitzpatrick (“The Last Straight Man In Theatre”) to play a cast of thousands in this epic tour de force in which every Best Picture Oscar winner is performed in 60 minutes. Can it be done?

My Stroke of Luck presented by One Crazy Frenchman Productions

On July 1, 2013 Jacques had a stroke. My Stroke of Luck details the heart wrenching yet somehow hilarious journey to recovery. Filled with advice on how to avoid getting “hit by a bus” this tale informs and inspires. The steps one has to overcome are ridiculously small and yet gigantic all at the same time. One has to stay positive despite enormous difficulties and find the joy in rediscovering how to do very basic things again.
