Welcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to a lovely exuberant boy named Johnny. Johnny is an 8 month old male Doberman Coonhound Cross who has done a bit of travelling. He came from Quesnel by way of the Drive For Lives Program which landed him in the West Vancouver SPCA in mid-February. He’s now made his way to the Vancouver SPCA where he is learning to be Johnny Be Good. We understand that Johnny is a high energy young pup that they believe was primarily left outside when he was a very young pup. So Johnny missed out on some prime learning opportunities. Therefore, he now he now needs an adult only home with active guardians who have time and patience to work with Johnny on his 
doggie behaviour. We understand he’s a big goofy pup who loves his stuffies, chew toys and dog puzzles. He can be quite vocal (having that coon hound) thus an environment where barking may cause a disturbance may not the best for him. Johnny is practising being polite when meeting new dogs and people, but he has a ways to go still, so needs someone that will work within through positive reinforcement based obedience. Rescue Me: K.D. & Lange – Two Chihuahuas Looking For Their Forever Home(s)
11 JanWelcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver BC SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to 2 lovely little Chihuahuas. They are K.D. and Lange and came together to the Vancouver SPCA through a cruelty investigation. These two girls are 7 and 8 years old respectively. It would be nice to see K.D. and Lange go to a new home together, but their friends at the Vancouver BC SPCA think they would both adjust to being adopted separately with some love and understanding from their new pet savvy guardians. Both girls would be able to go to a home with another dog as long as it is a calm, patient and confident canine, but neither would be suitable in a home with young children. The girls are a bit nervous, but gaining more confidence with the help of the staff and volunteers at the Vancouver BC SPCA, so much so they are now wagging their tails when it’s time for their walk. They are not fully house trained yet, but staff and volunteers have been working with them. Both K.D. and Lange would love a lap to curl up on and each would smother you with kisses. The girls are hanging out behind the desk with the staff at the Vancouver BC SPCA Branch, so feel free to stop by and say hi to these two lovely girls. Rescue Me: Sweet Georgia Girl Would Love A FURever Home

Welcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to re- introduce you to a lovely girl named Georgia who we featured earlier this year. She is a 2 year old Labrador Retriever crossed with Pit Bull Terrier. Georgia is a sweet, smart and energetic girl. She loves playing with other dogs and could easily live with a canine companion that has her rough and tumble style of play, but likely not cats. She’s a little too into them. The girl has had a bit of a rough year though. Being an energetic young dog with that lab energy, she tore her ACL. She has had surgery to repair it, so she spent a fair bit of time in foster on the mend, but is now fully recovered. Her foster family is now caring for a litter of kittens, so Georgia is now back to kennel life at the Vancouver SPCA. Georgia would really love a FURever home to call her own where she gets to stay and make new friends. The Vancouver SPCA thinks she is best suited for a house with a yard as well as an adult only home. Ideally, Georgia needs her people to have bit of time and attention to give her initially while she settles in before being left home alone for periods of more than 3 – 4 hours. She quite likes bully sticks and they keep her occupied and entertained whilst hanging out at the kennel. I’m sure if you brought her one, she’d be a friend for life. Rescue Me: Cookie Is Looking For Their Forever Homes

Welcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to a couple of animals who’ve been patiently waiting for their forever homes. First off, meet Gerry who is a fun young excitable dog with lots of energy. Thus, he does require an active and patient guardian. Gerry is a white and tan Pit Bull Terrier who is almost 2 years old. He originally came into the Prince George SPCA as a stray and was then later surrendered by his guardian. Gerry is a very affectionate dog and will shower you with kisses and is a little over eager at times Some formal obedience classes will help him with his manners and thrive in the right environment. His friends at the Vancouver SPCA think Gerry is best suited to an adult only home. And if you love snuggling and swimming, you are a great match. These are two of Gerry’s favourite things to do. mpany of people she knows, but does have a lower petting tolerance than some other cats. So a cat savvy guardian that knows when she needs her alone time is best. Her friends at the Vancouver SPCA think she would be happiest in a quiet adult-only home. Rescue Me: A Sweet Miniature Schnauzer Cross Looking For His Forever Home

Welcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA.Today we would like to introduce you to Mikey. He is a 7 year old miniature Schnauzer Cross who came to the Vancouver SPCA through a cruelty investigation. This sweet boy lived with untreated skin allergies and infections for long periods of time. Therefore, he is a bit leery of being touched and petted in certain areas. He is a bit fearful of new situations and may not do well being left alone for long periods of time. Therefore, he will need some experienced guardians. Having said this, once you’ve earned his trust, he is a very affectionate boy and we hear he has quite the zest for life. We understand Mikey is an amazing little walker and loves going for long walks. His friends at the Vancouver BC SPCA think he will flourish in the right home and is currently living with other dogs in foster and enjoying their company. The Vancouver BC SPCA does feel a quiet adult home is best for Mikey. Can you give this sweet boy a chance at a loving caring home? Rescue Me: Persian Cross Sky Looking For His Forever Home

Welcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to a lovely boy named Sky. Sky is a beautiful persian cross that is 11 years old. He came to the Vancouver BC SPCA after a change in his living environment. So an adult home where he is the apple of your eye would be perfect for him. Speaking of eyes, Sky has stunning baby blue eyes and is a sweet and loving cat. He has a sensitive nature which makes life in the shelter unsettling for him, but his friends at the Vancouver SPCA feel he will flourish in his new home. RESCUE ME: Lenny 4 Year Old Tabby Looking For His Forever Home

Welcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to a lovely boy named Lenny. Lenny is a 4 year old male tabby that came to the Vancouver BC SPCA as a stray through the Maple Ridge branch. Although he had permanent ID and they were able to track his owner, he had been missing for a whole year!! Due to this length of time missing, his previous owners felt it was best that Lenny stay with the BC SPCA so they could find him a more suitable home. No one is really sure what or where he was for that year, but when found, he had FAD (flea allergy dermatitis) which they’ve treated and his hair is growing in nicely. Lenny, as you can see from the pic, is a rather handsome boy. As for diet, he does need to remain on a Hypoallergenic diet. Lenny is extremely head shy and does appreciate a safe distance while getting to know people. He does startle easy on hearing loud noises as well as sudden movements, so a home with no children is important. The BC SPCA is working on desensitizing him to touch and creating positive experiences with him, but he will need a dedicated and cat savvy guardian to continue this with him. Lenny had spent some time at the recent satellite adoption center “Catfe” but he found it to be too stressful, so his friends at the BC SPCA say he should be the only cat in the home. Lenny is very playful, loves to chase his toys and loves to play with water. Thus, turn on a tap, he will keep you amused for a long time! Rescue Me: Tuxedo Cat Ruby Looking For Her Forever Home

Welcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to a darling cat, Ruby. This sweet friendly girl is desperately hoping for her forever home this time around. Ruby who is 4 years old was adopted 3 years ago from the Vancouver SPCA but was returned when her guardians had a baby. She’s an active girl who loves to play. Thus, a home with lots of toys and climbing posts to keep her stimulated is best. Ruby can be a little shy with strangers, but we hear once she warms up to you, she will be rolling around for your attention and pets. RESCUE ME: Sawyer A Pit Bull Cross Is Looking For His Forever Home

Welcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to Sawyer. Sawyer is a 5 year old male Pit Bull Cross and is a very active boy. This boy would love nothing more than to accompany you on your outdoor adventures. Sawyer is super smart dog that will require some mental stimulation to keep his mind busy. His friends at the SPCA think Sawyer would do well with agility or nosework, but then he also loves play time with his toys. We understand that Sawyer can get over stimulated and become jumpy and mouthy, therefore, a home without children is best. Sawyer does need a confident, dog-savvy guardian with behaviour experience to help him reach his amazing potential. He is also learning to love his crate and with a bit more practice will be able to use his crate as his own personal safe space. Sawyer is okay with dogs and may do well in a home with a friend though he can get a bit amorous with the female canines. He seems to find cats a little too fun to chase so a home with felines, likely would not be best. Sawyer has an infectious personality and a tail that wags at the speed of light. Rescue Me: Pearl & Blue Are Seniors Looking For Their Forever Home

Did you know November was adopt a senior month? In that spirit, in our next installment of Rescue Me, in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA, we would like to introduce you to Pearl and Blue. They are 9 years of age and mixed breed dogs German Shepherd Cross and Collie Cross. These two are a bonded pair and are ONLY to be adopted together. Pearl and her sister Blue, have not had the best start in life. Prior to coming to the BC SPCA, these sisters spent every second together as they were tethered most of their lives. They ate together from the same bowl and were virtually attached at the hip. What is fabulous about these girls, is that everything is new to them like puppies, so they are experiencing the wonders of the world and smells. These are 2 very sweet dogs that deserve a chance at a happy life. Our friends at the Vancouver SPCA tell us that Pearl and Blue are both very loving dogs and are ready to enjoy all of the perks a cherished indoor family pet gets to experience. That said, they do need patient and understanding guardians who can help them adjust and settle into cushy retirement paradise. These girls enjoy leisurely walks, but won’t require hours and hours of physical activity. Due to their inexperience, the Vancouver SPCA thinks that small children may not be suitable and they should be the only pets in the home. We hear that cats have proven to be a little too fun to chase. The girls will shortly be getting a professional groom and then then they will be ready to go to their forever home.
