Vancouver Story Slam Returns To The Stage March 8

After a long run of online shows, Vancouver Story Slam returns to the stage with a live audience Tuesday, March 8, 2022. Ten storytellers share original stories and compete for prizes and bragging rights for best story. There’s a great line up of storytellers including our very own Al Tee who some may recognize as writing some great historical pieces for ILiveInEastVan. Also on hand to share their stories will be Bill Burnyeat, Emily Kelsall, Karen Spears, Karly Pinch, Maia Brundage, Marylee Stephenson, Reive Doig, Shwicks, and Zed Payne. Special guest storyteller and two-time storytelling champion Bryant Ross will also take the stage.

Vancouver Story Slam takes place at Hero’s Welcome (formerly the Legion) at 3917 Main Street (at 23rd Ave). Admission is $5 at the door and the show kicks off at 8:00 pm.

Note: Covid safety protocols will be in place and all audience members and participants must show proof of vaccination (vax card +ID) and masks are required when not seated or onstage.

Vancouver Story Slam Invitational At The Wise Hall April 25th With Our Writer Al Tee

FestivalOfWordsVancouver Story Slam is Canada’s longest-running live monthly storytelling competition. On April 25th, you are invited to a special invitational edition of Vancouver Story Slam as part of Verses Festival of Words happening April 18th to 29th.  The Vancouver Story Slam Invitational takes place at the Wise Hall. It features ten storytellers including our contributing writer Al Tee who will be taking the stage to share original short stories for cash and prizes. 50 audience members will receive voting ballots to select the night’s winning storytellers.  In December, the 2017 Story Slam Championship Final sold out the 420-seat Rio, so you may wish to get your tickets sooner vs. later.  You can find them at Brown Paper Tickets. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the event gets under way at 6:45 pm. Advance tickets are $10 or $12 at the door.   This is a 19+ event with no minors, cash bar will be available.

Vancouver Story Slam At The Cottage Bistro February 13, 2018 With Contributing Writer Al Tee On Stage

sVancouverStorySlamFeb13If you love storytelling, be sure to check out Vancouver Story Slam. Their next event happens Tuesday, February 13th at the Cottage Bistro, 4470 Main Street.  These monthly gatherings are organized by Susan Cormier and hosted by Bryant Ross. Ten storytellers will take the stage and share their original stories with you. Those participating this February include Al Tee who wears a few hats including contributing writer for IliveInEastVan.com. The line up also includes Aneesah Jaffer, Arianne Robbins, Cory Thibert, Elisa Paczos, Griffin, James Long, Johnny Scoop, Marylee Stephenson, Mike Sheridan, and Rob Boffard. The show will open with a guest story by storytelling duo Sherry MacDonald and Jim Murray.  The event is $5 and that also gets you a ballot giving you the opportunity to vote on your favourite story.  There are cash prizes awarded to the winners.   If you wish to learn more about this event or participate in an upcoming event, email them directly at Vancouverstoryslam@yahoo.com. An Evening Of Storytelling With Vancouver Story Slam At The Cottage Bistro April 13

VSSYou are invited to an evening of original stories on April 13th at the Cottage Bistro, 4470 Main Street. The event is hosted by Vancouver Story Slam which is organized by Susan Cormier and hosted by Bryant Ross. Ten storytellers will take the stage and share their original stories with you. Those participating in April include Alexis Sugden, Buck Moody, David DJ Roy, Devon More, Humaira Hamid, Jim Murray, JP Lorence, Kathrin Lake, Leslie Stark and Mark Hughes. The event is $5 and that also gets you a ballot giving you the opportunity to vote on your favourite story.  There are cash prizes awarded to the winners. Those winners are in turn invited to participate at their annual storytelling championship finals.  The event on April 13th gets underway at 8:00 pm.  If you wish to learn more about this event or participate in an upcoming event, email them directly at Vancouverstoryslam@yahoo.com.
