Vancouver Story Slam Takes The Stage July 14th

Vancouver Story Slam returns to the stage Thursday, July 14th. Ten storytellers share original stories and compete for prizes and bragging rights for best story. There’s a great line up of storytellers including our very own Al Tee who some may recognize as writing some great historical pieces for ILiveInEastVan. Also on hand to share their stories will be Avneet Johal, Clint Wilson, Fergus Allen, Kevin Schnepel, Linda Lawson, Marylee Stephenson, Richard Dalton, Samantha Schaffner, and Zed Payne, and special guest 2007 Storytelling Champion Don Simpson.

Vancouver Story Slam takes place at Hero’s Welcome (formerly the Legion) at 3917 Main Street (at 23rd Ave). Doors open at 7:00 pm and show gets under way at 8:00 pm.  Early arrival is suggested. Admission is $6 cash at the door.

Story Story Lie: Hot & Heavy At The Rio Theatre April 26th

Story Story Lie is back at the Rio Theatre for another fun evening of storytelling Tuesday, April 26th.   This is a much anticipated x-rated edition which be sure to have some entertaining stories.   If you are not familiar with the premise of the show, storytellers take the stage to tell some wild stories, all of the stories are true, but ONE.  Can you spot the liar?  Be the first to guess the liar and you win a prize.  The fun kicks off at 7:00 pm on April 26th. Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 at the door. You can purchase you tickets online at the Rio Theatre.

story_lie_octStory Story Lie is back at The Rio Theatre on Wednesday, October 23rd with Tales of Terror. They will be kicking off their 4th season with unreal stories that are likely to give you goosebumps just in time for Halloween. If you aren’t familiar with the premise of Story Story Lie, it’s simple. A group of Vancouver’s best storytellers, comedians, and performers share unique stories that seem too tall to be true. The catch? Only ONE of the SIX stories is a lie. During the show audience members get to question the contestants in an attempt to reveal the liar. The first audience member to guess who the liar is, wins respect, admiration and an amazing prize! The line up of storytellers include:

Story Story Lie has one simple premise: Vancouver’s best storytellers, comedians, and performers share high-stakes, near-impossible, unique stories that seem too tall to be true. The catch? Only ONE of the SIX stories is a lie. During the show audience members get to question the contestants in an attempt to reveal the liar. Vancouver Story Slam Invitational At The Wise Hall April 25th With Our Writer Al Tee

FestivalOfWordsVancouver Story Slam is Canada’s longest-running live monthly storytelling competition. On April 25th, you are invited to a special invitational edition of Vancouver Story Slam as part of Verses Festival of Words happening April 18th to 29th.  The Vancouver Story Slam Invitational takes place at the Wise Hall. It features ten storytellers including our contributing writer Al Tee who will be taking the stage to share original short stories for cash and prizes. 50 audience members will receive voting ballots to select the night’s winning storytellers.  In December, the 2017 Story Slam Championship Final sold out the 420-seat Rio, so you may wish to get your tickets sooner vs. later.  You can find them at Brown Paper Tickets. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the event gets under way at 6:45 pm. Advance tickets are $10 or $12 at the door.   This is a 19+ event with no minors, cash bar will be available.

Vancouver Story Slam At The Cottage Bistro July 12

VanStorySlamJuly12You are invited to an evening of original stories on July 12th at the Cottage Bistro, 4470 Main Street. The event is hosted by Vancouver Story Slam which is organized by Susan Cormier and hosted by Bryant Ross. Ten storytellers will take the stage and share their original stories with you. Those participating in July include Alexis Sugden, Bailey Bjolin, James, Jim Murray, Kyla del Rosario, Lozan Yamolky, Mary Parlange, Ryan Uytdewilligen, Shlomo McPeake and Susan Levang.  The evening opens with a tale by guest performer J.P. Lorence. The event is $5 and that also gets you a ballot giving you the opportunity to vote on your favourite story.  There are cash prizes awarded to the winners. Those winners are in turn invited to participate at their annual storytelling championship finals.  The event on July 12th gets underway at 8:00 pm.  If you wish to learn more about this event or participate in an upcoming event, email them directly at Vancouverstoryslam@yahoo.com.
