An Evening Of Storytelling At The Cottage Bistro April 10th

StorySlamApril10Vancouver Story Slam is back at the Cottage Bistro, 4470 Main Street on Tuesday, April 10th for an evening of storytelling.  These monthly gatherings are organized by Susan Cormier and hosted by Bryant Ross. Ten storytellers will take the stage and share their original stories with you. Those participating this April include Alix Born, Chris Cannon, Katharine Moore, Lalo Espejo, Maia Brundage, Michele Luchs, Mike Funergy, Naomi Steinberg, Trish Irvin, and Zach Allan. The event will open with a guest story from special guest storyteller T.J. Mair. The event is $5 at the door which gets you a ballot giving you the opportunity to vote on your favourite story.  There are cash prizes awarded to the winners.   If you wish to learn more about this event or participate in an upcoming event, email them directly at Vancouverstoryslam@yahoo.com. Their next event happens Tuesday, February 13th at the Cottage Bistro, 4470 Main Street.  These monthly gatherings are organized by Susan Cormier and hosted by Bryant Ross. Ten storytellers will take the stage and share their original stories with you. Those participating this February include Al Tee who wears a few hats including contributing writer for IliveInEastVan.com. The line up also includes Aneesah Jaffer, Arianne Robbins, Cory Thibert, Elisa Paczos, Griffin, James Long, Johnny Scoop, Marylee Stephenson, Mike Sheridan, and Rob Boffard. Those participating in July include Alexis Sugden, Bailey Bjolin, James, Jim Murray, Kyla del Rosario, Lozan Yamolky, Mary Parlange, Ryan Uytdewilligen, Shlomo McPeake and Susan Levang.  The evening opens with a tale by guest performer J.P. Lorence. The event is $5 and that also gets you a ballot giving you the opportunity to vote on your favourite story.  There are cash prizes awarded to the winners. WhatItIs!PhotoEast Van’s Soul returns to the Cottage Bistro, 4470 Main Street, this Saturday, February 6th.  Come check out the sounds of What It Is!  This group consists of four amazing East Van ladies, being Mebrat “Mimi” Beyene, Cass King, Patti Powell and Carol Wiedemann.  Together they are a powerhouse of a cappella soul. If you don’t know them, their sound is steeped in the soulful sounds of such greats as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and Etta James.  They are engaging performers and will be sure to have you singing and clapping along with them.  These ladies bring heart to their East Van Soul. If you get the chance, be sure to stop by the Cottage Bistro and give them a listen.  They take the stage at 8:00 pm. The event is $10 at the door or Pay What You Will.
