New In Town: Raw Soap Skincare … Natural Products Made With Love In East Van

20 Apr

RawSoapSkincareWe love finding out about new businesses making their way in East Vancouver. Today we would like to introduce to Alisha Danielle and her company, Raw Soap Skincare.   After some health issues in her 20s, Alisha became very aware of all the chemicals being absorbed through the skin in many of the day to day personal care products we use.  She slowly began to eliminate a number of products from her daily  routine and replace them with better options. Many of the alternatives she found with all natural ingredients, came at a steep price.  So Alisha did her research and started making her own moisturizers, soaps, scrubs and shaving creams and gave them away as gifts. Everyone loved the products, low and behold a business was born, Raw Soap Skincare. Alisha’s soap and skin care products are natural, organic, ethical, eco-friendly vegan, fair trade and sustainable.   Her mission is to create products that promote inner and outer balance, while giving back to our worldwide community. Raw Soap Skincare will donate 5% of their profits to a different not-for-profit charity each month. Until April 31st, Raw Soap Skincare is donating that 5% to thewaterproject.org.  An organization unlocking human potential by providing sustainable water projects to communities in sub-Saharan Africa.

Currently Raw Soap Skincare is only available online through Etsy and the product line ranges in price from $3.75 – $5.00 and includes:

VanCity CocoCamoNilla Soap
Hornby Honey Be Like Lemonade Soap
Tuff City Green Tea Soap
Commercial Drive Rooibos Goddess Lemongrass Exfoliate Bar
Sea To Sky Fly High Sunrise Exfoliate Bar
Mt Pleasant Peaceful Pumice Exfoliate Bar
The Grove Rosemary Reefer Exfoliate Bar
P.Dot Lavender Pop Exfoliate Bar

In the coming months, Alisha plans to expand her product line to include sugar scrubs, body butters, shaving cream, lip balm, a special homeopathic salve for sore muscles as well as bath salts and herbal facial steamers. You can also expect her products at some select retail locations in the coming months.  If you live in East Vancouver and make your  online Etsy purchase, you can pick orders directly from Alisha and forego the shipping costs.  We invite you to check out this great new product line made right here in East Vancouver which means you will be supporting local with every purchase made. Right now, for every order over $25.00, free shipping is currently available if you use the Code HONEYBEE.RawSoapBars

GrazeRest#2You are invited to Graze Restaurant, 3980 Fraser Street, on Tuesday, February 3rd for a fundraising dinner for the Vancouver Branch of the BC SPCA. The SPCA is a non-profit organization that helps nearly 37,000 injured, abused and homeless animals each year and relies on generous donations from supporters. On February 3rd, dine at Graze Restaurant between 5:00 – 10:00 pm and Graze will donate 20% of the sales from your bill to the Vancouver SPCA. Whether you are a strict vegetarian, a flexitarian who enjoys trying everything or an omnivore who simply wants a familiar and satiating meal, Graze was something for you. One of their delicious entrees has made it onto Erin Ireland’s Must Try Five List. That being their now rather famous Vegan Perogies with crispy shallots served with an intensely smoked coconut cheddar sauce, sour coconut cream and spicy tomato jam. As Erin would say, it’s To Die For.  You can make your reservation by contacting Graze Restaurant at T:  604-620-8822. Come out and support this charity that does so much for animal welfare within our community.

Vancouver SPCA Fundraising Dinner at Graze Restaurant December 18th

16 Dec
GrazeFood&DrinkYou are invited to Graze Restaurant, 3980 Fraser Street, on Wednesday, December 18th for a fundraising dinner for the Vancouver Branch of the SPCA.  If you are unfamiliar with Graze Restaurant, it is a vegan restaurant that provides locally and organically produced ingredients. The concept is to provide people of all eating preferences with dishes that are creative, nutritionally well-balanced and simply delicious.Whether you are a strict vegetarian who is starving for choice, a flexitarian who enjoys trying everything or an omnivore who simply wants a familiar and satiating meal, Graze was something for you. One thing they have that has made it onto Erin Ireland’s Must Try Five List is their Vegan Perogies. Erin says “Chef Karen McAthy’s piece de resistance is a yam and egglant perogy dish for $16 topped with crispy shallots and served with an intensely smoked coconut cheddar sauce, sour coconut cream and spicy tomato jam.”  Not only does Graze Restaurant do great food and service, they are doing fundraising dinners for local charities where they donate 20% of the sales from your bill to a local charity. When you make your reservation for this Wednesday’s dinner, make sure to mention the SPCA and Graze will donate 20% to the Vancouver Branch to help shelter animals in need.

Should you not be able to make Wednesday’s dinner, you could always try for Tuesday, December 17th.  Another charity near and dear to my heart is the WRA Wildlife Rescue Association of BC. Funds raised from this dinner will help provide care for 4,000 injured, orphaned and pollution-damaged wild animals each year.  Same idea applies, when you make your dinner reservation, mention the Wildlife Rescue Association of BC. To make your reservation for either night, contact Graze at 604.620.8822.
