Winter Farmer Markets In East Van 2020-2021

Summer weather may be gone, but farmer markets continue into the Fall and Winter seasons. This year more than ever, we encourage you to support our local growers and makers.  In East Van, you have 2 options to choose from depending on your location. COVID-19 safety protocols are in place in both locations. Visit Vancouver Farmer Markets for more details on their protocols.

Riley Park Farmers Market – Every Saturday  10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Riley Park Farmers Market in case you hadn’t already heard is a year round market happening every Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at 30th & Ontario.  This is a great space located next to a community garden with ample parking and located on a bike route.

Hastings Park Farmers Market – Every Sunday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

The Hastings Park Farmers Market runs every Sunday from November 1st to April 25, 2021. The market is located on the Centre Grounds of Hastings Park.

Aurora Winter Festival At Hastings Park/PNE November 22, 2019 to January 5, 2020

Looking for something fun and seasonal to do?  Canada’s largest winter festival comes to Hastings Park and the PNE with the Aurora Winter Festival.  The festival will have a wide array of events to keep the whole family entertained.  There will be both indoor and outdoor activities. You can wander the Luminous Gardens, Whimsical Forest, Polar Passage and the Land of Giants.  Or stop by and meet Santa Claus at the North Pole which will have a crafty section for kids.  While there you can write a letter to Santa which we hear gets delivered to the North Pole.  There will also be an outdoor skating rink as well as amazing light display. For shopping, expect to find a Christmas Market. If you get hungry, there will be food gardens. For fun, there will also be a tube park along with other amusement rides.  Tickets for the event are available from TicketLeader. Tickets are purchased by the hour you arrive ie. 2:00 – 3:00 pm, 3:00 – 4:00 pm and most ticket prices are approximately $20 adults, $15 for children and a family pass for $62, but note if you wish to get their earlier in the day, there is a $2 discount per ticket for those that wish to get an early start on the experience.

UPDATE ON HOURS: For those wishing to attend the Aurora Winter Festival during the week, organizers have advised they are realigning their hours and will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the following dates: December 3, 4, 10 and 11).

That got us to thinking about the many free events that regularly take place in and around East Vancouver.  Our community centers always have lots of family friendly events open to all ages.  There also free movies, art exhibitions and much more.  We wanted to share some of the free events that we’ve come across that will be happening in East Van in the coming months. Winter Farmer Markets In East Vancouver

Pumpkins & SquashNat Bailey Stadium – November 7 to April 26 / 10 – 2

Vancouver Farmers Market returns to Nat Bailey Stadium, 4601 Ontario Street for their winter market starting Saturday November 7th and will run each Saturday until April 23 save for December 26th.  The market will run each day from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.   This is a great opportunity to shop local all winter long. Each week you can expect to find locally grown fruit and vegetables, meat and seafood from local ranchers and fishermen, artisan cheese and bread, herbs and seasonal nursery items, baked goods and prepared foods.  Also on hand, as usual, will be a few food trucks, hot drink vendors and a little live music to keep you entertained.

Hastings Park – November 8 to May 1 / 10 – 2

If you prefer heading to the farmers market on a Sunday, then be sure to check out  the market at Hastings Park beginning Sunday November 8th.  This farmers market will run every Sunday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm until May 1, 2016 save for December 27th.  The market is located on the PNE grounds by the Hastings Skatepark. This market will also feature a great selection of local produce, including fish, poultry, meat and dairy products.  You will also find locally sourced  artisan prepared foods, baked goods, local crafts and food trucks serving hot food to keep you warm in the cooler months. Come out and support local this winter.
