Summer Farmer Markets In East Vancouver

The summer season for Vancouver Farmer Markets kicks off on Saturday, April 6th.  Trout Lake Farmers Market is back, as is the perennial favourite Riley Park Farmers Market.  Both markets feature an array of local vendors offering fruits, vegetables, flowers, beverages, baked goods, pre-made meals, soups, condiments and so much more.   We encourage you to stop by and support our local producers.    To see a full listing of all markets hosted by Vancouver Farmers Market and which vendors will be attending each week, visit eatlocal.org.

The 14th Annual Hot Chocolate Festival January 13 to February 14

The Greater Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival kicks off January 13th and runs till February 14th in various locations around Metro Vancouver. For 2024, there are a total of 105 locations participating in the event which will offer some 162 different types of hot chocolate. Organizers have created a great virtual map so you can see all the spots participating as well as an alphabetical listing which sets out which locations are offering vegan, dairy free and gluten free options. In East Van, you’ll see a number of spots clustered in Mount Pleasant and in the Main Street/Riley Park area. In SE Vancouver, you will find a new participant Boketto Tea Bar located in River District which is a great little spot if you haven’t been. You will also find hot chocolate offerings in the Grandview Woodland area at To Live For Bakery & Cafe and Mah Milk Bar. Be sure to check out the map and some of the delish offerings and support these great local spots.

Winter Farmer Markets In East Van From November 4, 2023 to April 28, 2024

Vancouver Farmers Markets are kicking off their winter farmer markets this weekend. In East Vancouver, you can expect to find two markets.  First up is Riley Park Farmers Market which carries on in the same location as the summer market at 50 East 30th & Ontario Street every Saturday from November 4, 2023 to March 30, 2024. Next up is the Hastings Park Farmers Market which returns for another year and happens every Sunday from November 5th 2023 to April 28, 2024.  The market is located on the PNE Centregrounds behind The Forum Building and is always a popular market.  Both markets run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and jam packed with lots of great local goods. Summer Farmer Markets In East Van

Vancouver Farmers Market kicked off its summer season with the popular Trout Lake Farmers Market at John Hendry Park. This market happens every Saturday from April 1st to October 28th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Riley Park Farmers Market also officially kicked off its summer season on Saturday, April 1st at 50 E 30th Ave & Ontario Street. Riley Park Farmers Market runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. As of Sunday, May 27th, the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market kicks off and will run every Sunday at Dude Chilling Park at 8th Avenue and Guelph Street from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm until October 29, 2023. All the markets feature awesome local vendors with fruits, vegetables, flowers, beverages, bread, condiments and a selection of food trucks and so much more. Vancouver Farmers Markets hosts two winter markets in East Vancouver.  First up is the Hastings Park Farmers Market which returns for another year and happens every Sunday from November 6, 2022 to April 30, 2023. The market is located on the PNE Centregrounds and is always a popular market.  Second up, is the Riley Park Farmers Market which carries on in the same location as the summer market at 50 East 30th & Ontario Street every Saturday from November 5, 2022 to March 25, 2023.  Both markets run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and as always are jam packed with lots of great local goods. Summer weather may be gone, but farmer markets continue into the Fall and Winter seasons. As always, we encourage you to support our local growers and makers.  In East Van, you have 2 great markets to choose from.

Riley Park Farmers Market – Every Saturday  10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Riley Park Farmers Market is in fact a year round market that happens every Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at 30th & Ontario. They officially transition from a summer to winter market on Saturday, November 6th. This is a great space located next to a community garden with ample parking and located on a bike route.

Hastings Park Farmers Market – Every Sunday 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

The Hastings Park Farmers Market runs every Sunday from November 7, 2021 to April 24, 2022. The market is located on the Centre Grounds of Hastings Park.

Vancouver Farmer Markets Kick Off Summer Season

Spring is here which means lots of local products at our farmer markets in East Vancouver. Each of the markets hosted by Vancouver Farmer Markets has a lot to offer in the way of locally grown produce, handmade goods, artisan breads and baked goods, locally made jams, cheese, free range and organic eggs and of course wineries, breweries as well as spirits to name just a few.  Trout Lake as many readers may know is the largest market in East Van and with Covid protocols, do expect a bit of a line up.  Mount Pleasant Farmers Market which is in Dude Chilling Park is a smaller market, but we love that it’s on a Sunday. Riley Park Farmers Market is next to one of the most beautiful community gardens we’ve seen and happens year round every Saturday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Main Street Farmers Market is currently closed due to construction. We have set out below the dates when the markets begin and end for the Spring/Summer season. We encourage you to stop by and support our local producers this season.

Neil Diamond Tribute – Federico’s Supper Club – August 30th

If you love the sounds of Neil Diamond, enjoy dancing along with having a great dinner, Federico’s Supper Club is the place to be Friday night.  Cost is $69 per person and includes a 3 course meal and the evening’s entertainment.  Note price doesn’t included tip and tax. The Fair At The PNE – Now to September 2nd

The Fair at the PNE is on daily from 11:00 till 11:00 pm every evening until September 2nd. In case you hadn’t heard, there are lots of free events with admission once inside the gates. Kids under 5 are free with an adult and children aged 6 to 12.  If you are looking for an energetic performance, Billy Idol will be hitting the summer concert stage Saturday night at 8:30 pm and the Beach Boys take the stage Sunday.

Lovin’ The Earth Climate Action – Riley Park Community Garden – August 31st 

You are invited to come join in a family-friendly event on climate action this Saturday.  The event will focus around around 5 themes where you can make a difference:  Food, Energy, Transportation, Waste and Resilient Neighbourhoods. There will also be a Butterfly Project Talk with a Butterfly Ranger from the David Suziki Foundation. For more info, visit Climate Action Fair.

Lantern Making in the Food Forest – Renfrew Collingwood – August 31st

If you are looking for something to entertain the kids this weekend, Renfrew Collingwood Food Security Institute is hosting a free lantern making workshop this Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.  All materials will be supplied. These will be glass jars that kids decorate.  Although the event is free, registration is requested. The event happens at Norquay Community Food Forest (2732 Horley Street).

Comedy Bucket – Little Mountain Gallery – August 31st

Looking for some laughs this long weekend?   Little Mountain Gallery, 195 East 26th Avenue, plays host to Comedy Bucket. What is it? Vancouver’s top stand up comedians abandon all their material to create brand new jokes on your (the audience’s suggestions).  Evening is hosted by Gina Harms and Gavin Banning. Tickets are $8 online or $10 at the door.

Heartbreak On The Coast Release Party – Wise Hall – August 31st

Full Circle is putting on a show on Saturday, August 31st at the Wise Hall to celebrate the Release of Nimkish’s first album “Heartbreak On The Coast.” Expect an evening of Indigenous/Queer music that supports local artists. There will also be vendor tables set up to showcase local art.  Tickets are $12 and available through Eventbrite.

Artful Sundays – Napier Greenway – September 1st 

The last Artful Sunday for the summer happens this Sunday between Noon and 5:00 pm. Expect some great local talent, live music, workshops and artisans. The event is free to attend. The Napier Greenway is located just outside the Britannia Community Centre/Library.

The Great Canadian Porno: The Musical – Havana Theatre – September 1st

If you are looking for a good laugh this weekend, you may wish to check out The Great Canadian Porno: The Musical happening at Havana Theatre this Sunday night.  We hear it’s a bold and funny fast paced production with Canadiana undertones.  Tickets are $20 and available through Showpass.

Do you love cartoons? Miss those Saturday morning cartoons you used to watch as a kid. Do you know Storm Crow Tavern offers cartoons Saturday morning from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm whilst you enjoy breakfast/brunch?

Also 7 days a week, you will find live music at the Libra Room on The Drive. Tangent Café hosts live jazz Sunday nights  from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Saturday, Pat’s Pub has live jazz Saturday afternoons from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, no cover.
