June Hunter Studio Sale November 30th – December 2nd

28 Nov

JuneHunterHolidayStudioSale2018East Van artist, June Hunter, is hosting her Holiday Studio Sale this weekend. if you aren’t familiar with her work already, nature features prominently in June’s work especially crows. June has been busy working on new designs and was recently featured on CBC Radio about her fondness for crows and what she calls crow therapy.  Which really in a nutshell is taking a break in nature and taking a moment to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us each and every day.  Crows are,  of course, an ever present sight in East Vancouver, so they are part of our ongoing scenery.   June has again this year put together a City Crows Calendar which was mentioned in her interview on CBC Radio. Thus, they are now flying off the shelves, literally.  So if you wish to grab one, best stop by this weekend, or visit her online shop which is open 24/7.

At this weekend’s Holiday Studio Sale, you can also expect to find a host of beautiful items including jewellery, throw cushions, totes, small prints, iPad covers, large scale wall art, tiles and much more. We always hope her rescue dog Geordie will be on hand to greet you. He rarely disappoints us.  June Hunter’s studio is located at 2785 Parker Street (one block west of Renfrew – between Hastings St. and First Avenue). The Studio Sale takes place Friday, November 30th  from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday, December 1st and Sunday, December 2nd from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

If you are not able to attend this weekend’s Holiday Studio Sale, we invite you check out her online shop which is open 24/7.  You can also find some of June’s pieces at Doctor Vigari Gallery, 1816 Commercial Drive and Bird on A Wire Creations, 2535 Main Street in East Van as well as the Vancouver Art Gallery store downtown.

Art Of East Van By ILIEV Designs Featuring Artist Kat McPhee

15 Nov

KatMcPheeWe are big fans of the amazing artistic talent we have in East Vancouver. Whether it’s behind the studio walls or in the alley way.  We decided that we wanted to blend our love of the environment, using less plastic and at the same time showcase East Van art.   ILiveInEastVan is partnering with East Van artists to showcase their art work on canvas tote bags.

Today we are excited to launch the Art Of East Van by ILIEV Designs featuring our first artist Kat McPhee. We’ve been following Kat for a few years and love her edgy work that has a definite street vibe. Kat is a self-taught artist that creates vibrant portraits and mixed media prints using elements of graffiti and animation as inspiration.  We have created 3 tote bags featuring Kat’s portraits. As you can see from the photo below, we have totes featuring the stunning Audrey Hepburn, the larger than life Anthony Bourdain and the make my day Clint Eastwood.  These totes are now available for sale at Kat’s studio which is located in the Arts Factory, 281 Industrial Avenue (near Main & Terminal) along with 20 other artists. Their studios are now open for the Eastside Culture Crawl.  We invite to stop by and check out her work during The Crawl happening November 15th & 16th from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and November 17th & 18th from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Art For Meditation and Mindful Living By East Van Artist Carolyn Trotter

24 Mar

BaliBlissMeditationMatWe recently attended the Health & Wellness Show held in Vancouver and had the pleasure of chatting with Carolyn Trotter of Mandala Blooms Creative. Carolyn is an East Vancouver artist that makes beautiful meditation mats under the name of Mandala Creative Blooms. She received a Diploma in Art in Merchandising from Langara College and has studied graphic design, printmaking, sacred geometry, technical illustration, interior design and visual marketing in both Canada and Mexico. A series of life experiences and health challenges brought Carolyn to study yoga and meditation.  In 2014, Carolyn launched her business designing floral meditation mats with mandala centres. They are designed to provide a sacred centerpiece for a serene space to meditate.  Carolyn is committed to the integration of art, personal health and daily mindfulness with the intention of helping people heal.  Carolyn herself has faced many challenges in her life and her secrets for getting well were yoga and meditation. These practices enabled Carolyn to stay focused on the things that matter most.  We invite you to visit Mandala Blooms Creative online shop open 24/7.  Carolyn also makes colourful yoga towels with her designs as well as framed prints of her designs.  If you dig a bit deeper, you can also find some paintings at CarolynTrotter.com which we have to say, we’d love to see on any of our walls. To see Carolyn’s designs in person, you can find her December 8th 11:00 to 4:00 pm at the 3rd Annual Tugboat Landing Artisan Market in SE Vancouver.
