Maker Faire At Science World September 14th

MakerFaire2019If you are creative and/or love to make things, or maybe you’d like to introduce some young minds to all the ways in which one can make things. If so, this Saturday is a great opportunity with the Maker Faire which happens at Science World with over 50 artists, inventors, crafters and performers.   This is a community-driven festival that showcases all kinds of makers and generally embraces the do-it-yourself spirit.  Come and explore the world of making this Saturday between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.  Admission is $27.15 for adults, seniors, student and youth (13-18) $21.70 children 3-12 $18.10 and children under 3 are free.  To learn more visit, Maker Faire.

Make It! At PNE Forum April 21 – 23

MakeIt!VancouverIf you haven’t heard of Make It! you may be living under a rock. This event founded by siblings Chandler Herbut and Jenna Herbut in 2008, showcases artists, crafters and makers from all over Canada. This year, you will find over 200 exhibitors or ‘Makies’ at the PNE Forum from April 21st to April 23rd. You will find a wide variety of items including some personal favourites such as Beth & Olivia, The Lemon Square, Sea Luxe, Sable Shortbread, Laughing Sparrow, East Van Light, Amara Blue DesignsDIG Leather, Irit Sorokin Designs and Tessa Manu Photography. Alright, so that’s a long list. These are some of the many we will be checking out this weekend.  Shopping isn’t the only thing happening at Make It! There will be music, food trucks and a beer garden as well as a silent auction with items donated by the makies with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Union Gospel Mission. Make It! kicks off this Friday, April 21st at 11:00 am. Tickets are $5 at the door with kids under 12 free. 


Call For Artists By Shiny Fuzzy Muddy Show For December 2017

CallingALLMakersAre you a local maker, artist or crafter?  Shiny Fuzzy Muddy is looking for you.  They are getting prepared to host their 15th Annual Shiny Fuzzy Muddy Show on December  9 and 10, 2017 at the Heritage Hall. If you are unfamiliar with this show, it is one of ‘the’ shows to check out over the holiday season featuring high quality design and craftsmanship. They curate an amazing line up of talent. Applications are now being accepted for December’s event. If you are new artist, you also have the opportunity to submit an application under their Emerging Artist Program.  Every year, they sponsor one artist/maker with under 3 years of professional experience. They provide them with a booth free of cost, so they can spend that money on supplies and display materials to help them grow their handmade business. They also provide mentorship, promotion and a chance for the artist to get a feel for the market at low risk to them. They are big believers in supporting up and coming talent and are now proud to offer this program for a 3rd year. Vancouver Mini Maker Faire June 6 & 7 At The PNE Forum

VMMFDiagramVancouver Mini Maker Faire takes place June 6 and 7 at the PNE Forum. What is the Mini Maker Faire? Organizers will tell you it’s the Greatest Show and Tell on Earth. This is a two day family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness. You will get to see, touch, feel, learn, invent and experience it all first hand. There will be more than 100 exhibits and an amazing selection of workshops and presentations. There truly is something for every age and every interest. What exactly can you expect to find at Vancouver Mini Maker Faire? Well for starters there will be a Dark Matter Zone, a Textile Village, robotic dogs, homegrown drones, interactive art installations and chance to take a spin on an art t-shirt making bike. This event brings together Makers of every type including the City’s tech enthusiasts, crafters, librarians, science clubs, hobbyists, artists and imaginative kids all under one roof for two days.  You know those neat creative people that tinker away in their studios or garages for hours at a time, well now you will find them all in one place and you get to pick their brains about they do and why. Pretty neat if you ask us. So what do you make?  We all make something whether it’s our food, sewing, growing a garden, those cards that you made as a kid for Mother’s Day or that special Valentine. For this year’s Mini Maker Faire, you are invited to come build, craft, teach, hack, invent and learn. The Vancouver Mini Maker Faire encourages you to roll up your sleeve and take part in making something. Advance tickets for this event are now on sale at Mini Maker Faire.   There are rates for youth, students, adults, seniors and family rates, children 4 and younger get in free.  At the door tickets will be also available at the Front Gate on June 6 & 7, 2015.
