This amazing market will host 33 local designers that create a variety of handmade items from fashion to skin care to cosmetics. Some of the designers on hand include Jessica Redditt Design, Irit Sorokin, Bukoro Bag Co., What’s Her Face, After Times Art, Asiri Cosmetics, Mossy Mind Herbs to name a few. Whether you are looking for something for your home, for yourself, or a gift, there will be lots to choose from. Got Craft Spring Market At The Croatian Cultural Centre May 6& 7

Got Craft celebrates its 16th year in Vancouver as one of BC’s largest curated markets. Their Spring Market will take place on May 6th & 7th at the Croatian Cultural Centre from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.  The event will feature over 95 makers, designers, creative entrepreneurs along side some kidpreneuers under the age of 16 years.  You can expect to find a variety of goods including clothing, jewellery, art, homewares, greeting cards, ceramics and much more.  There will also be a selection of food trucks on hand including NaMi Vietnamese and The Brownie Bakers.   For those early birds, the first 50 people through the door each day will receive one of their legendary swag bags.  Tickets for the event are $5 and available online, kids 12 and under are free. This is a perfect weekend to pick up something special just in time for Mother’s Day.

Vancouver Etsy Co. Presents Maker Supply March 11th at the Heritage Hall

Vancouver Etsy Co. presents Maker Supply on Saturday March 11th at the Heritage Hall. Expect to find over 40 local small businesses including designers, artists, makers and creatives. You can expect to find jewellery, body care, fashion, pet accessories, cards, items for the wee ones along with edible items. Some of the makers on hand include East Van Jam, Kaaj Artisan Chocolates, East Van Bees, The Salt Dispensary and Portside Cakes. Makers will have products available as well as packaging supplies, displays, crafting material and more. This is a one day event on Saturday, March 11th at the Heritage Hall and goes from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Admission is FREE and dogs are welcome.   Donations to BC Children’s Hospital and/or the Vancouver Food Bank are also welcome. You can RSVP at Eventbrite for a chance to win Market Cash to spend at the event.

Got Craft At The Croatian Cultural Centre May 7 & 8, 2022

Got Craft celebrates its 15th year in Vancouver as one of BC’s largest curated markets featuring makers, designers and small shops.   They will be hosting their next event Saturday May 7th and Sunday May 8th at the Croatian Cultural Centre from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The event is just in time for Mother’s Day and features 80 independent makers and small business.  

What can you expect to find at Got Craft?  Some of the goods you can find include ceramics, clothing, bath + body goods, jewelry, food + beverage, homewares, greeting cards, art along with a mini maker area with kidpreneurs aged 5-13 years old.    You can also expect food carts to be on site if get hungry while shopping.   Advance tickets are available online for $5 which also gets you an opportunity to win a handmade prize pack.   Kids 12 and under are free.  To learn more about all the vendors on hand, or to grab your advance ticket(s), visit Got Craft.

Nifty For Fifty At The Heritage Hall Sunday April 14th

NiftyFor502019One of our favourite sales is back Sunday, April 14th at the Heritage Hall, 3102 Main Street.  If you are unfamiliar with this sale, Nifty for Fifty was founded by Adhesif Clothing designer, Melissa Ferreira, in 2007 with 12 designers. It has now grown to over 30 sellers with over 3,000 shoppers attending the one day sale. The event is a way for local designers to show gratitude to their customers by clearing out local merchandise all of which is $50 or less.  At this year’s sale, you can expect to find clothing, jewelry, sketchbooks, pottery, bags, scarves and much more by some great local designers. Some of the designers on hand include Adhesif Clothing, Dig It Vintage, Daub & Design, Amara Blue Jewelry, Sarah Mulder Jewellery, Dahlia Drive, Lana Betty, Ebb and Flo Designs,  Devi Arts Collective and many more.  A number of items available on this day will be up to 80% off. So mark your calendar for this shopping event, but just a reminder this is a mainly cash event. For those that want the best selection or first dibs at some of the great deals, we recommend you get their early. We also hear Mixers & Elixirs will be on hand serving non-alcoholic beverages from homemade seasonal shrubs.  The sale starts at 11:00 a.m. and goes to 6:00 p.m. Admission is $2 at the door.

 

First Pick Handmade YVR Happens At The Heritage Hall March 17th & 18th

FirstPick-Spring2018_postcard_v1.0First Pick Handmade YVR is happening this weekend at the Heritage Hall, 3102 Main Street, March 17th and 18th, 2018. This is a curated event of 30 Canadian men’s and women’s fashion accessory designers. They will be on hand with a limited run of items.  First Pick Handmade will transform Heritage Hall into a 3,300-square foot pop up boutique department store for the person that values Canadian design and quality materials.   The event will include a combination of long standing designers as well as newer start ups.  The common thread all these designers share is high quality construction and materials. The event will showcase clothing, jewelry, linen garments, towels, hemp Ts, wedding chic, bikinis, accessories, shoes and bags, for both men and women.  Some of the local designers featured include Bikini Empire, Dhalia Drive, Frances Felt, Rouge Textiles, Jessica Reddittm Daub & Design, Winterluxe Recycled Cashmere to name just a few.

First Pick Handmade was created and curated by Janna Hurtzig  who is the founder/designer behind Winterluxe Recycled Cashmere and Astrosatchel labels.  Hurtzig has been part of Vancouver’s handmade scene since 1988 in a variety of roles including co-organizer of Shiny, Muddy Fuzzy.  We are expecting to see some beautiful items this weekend.  First Pick Handmade YVR runs this Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm. Entrance is $3.00 at the door.

Call For Artists By Shiny Fuzzy Muddy Show For December 2017

CallingALLMakersAre you a local maker, artist or crafter?  Shiny Fuzzy Muddy is looking for you.  They are getting prepared to host their 15th Annual Shiny Fuzzy Muddy Show on December  9 and 10, 2017 at the Heritage Hall. If you are unfamiliar with this show, it is one of ‘the’ shows to check out over the holiday season featuring high quality design and craftsmanship. They curate an amazing line up of talent. Applications are now being accepted for December’s event. If you are new artist, you also have the opportunity to submit an application under their Emerging Artist Program.  Every year, they sponsor one artist/maker with under 3 years of professional experience. They provide them with a booth free of cost, so they can spend that money on supplies and display materials to help them grow their handmade business. They also provide mentorship, promotion and a chance for the artist to get a feel for the market at low risk to them. They are big believers in supporting up and coming talent and are now proud to offer this program for a 3rd year.
