Tasting Class: Dessert Wine At River District Vancouver November 14 – POSTPONED

ClusterGrapesIf you have a sweet tooth and love wine, you may wish to check out this Tasting Class happening Thursday, November 14th at the Everything Wine store in River District. Dessert wines are definitely something you see and taste more in the winter months and Everything Wine has you covered with respect to a selection. You are invited to come learn how dessert wine is made and the different styles that are made.  After an introduction to the types of dessert wines, you will, of course, get to taste some of the best in the world.   The tasting class gets under way at 6:30 pm and will run till 8:00 pm.  Tickets are $35 and available for purchase online at Everything Wine.

Day Of The Dead Tequila + Mezcal Tasting At Everything Wine October 31st

Everything Wine Vancouver, located in the new River District Town Centre in SE Vancouver, is hosting a Day of The Dead Tequila and Mezcal Tasting on Thursday, October 31st.  This is your chance to learn about the history of these two spirits and the process of these iconic spirits and traditions from Mexico. If you didn’t already know mezcal is made from the heart of the agave plant. We hear it’s been pretty much made the same way for the last 200 years.  We expect his to be another fun informative class in a great space in store.  Cost for the tasting class is $35 and it begins at 6:30 pm.  To grab your ticket(s), visit Everything Wine Vancouver.

Sake & Umeshu: Japan Visits Vancouver At Everything Wine October 3rd

SakeBottleOn Thursday, October 3rd Everything Wine located in River District in SE Vancouver is hosting Sake & Umeshu Tasting Class: Japan Visit Vancouver. You will have the unique opportunity to meet four luminaries of sake and umeshu (plum wine) who have come to Vancouver from Japan. They will introduce you to the making of sake and umeshu and discuss their historic breweries and products alongside finger food and of course tastings.  Cost of the class is $30 and it happens this Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  If you haven’t already been to this store, they have a beautiful space for conducting workshops and lots of free parking close by.  For tickets or more information, visit Everything Wine Vancouver.

Savour Summer Festival Happens at River District Town Centre August 10th

If are looking for some free summer fun and entertainment, you may wish to check out the Savour Summer Festival happening this Saturday, August 10th at the River District Town Centre, 8550 River District Crossing. The festival features summer games, mini golf, a dunk tank in support of local charities along with the latest craze which we hear is axe throwing?!   We also hear a beer garden will be available for 19+ patrons. If you don’t already know, an Everything Wine store is located across from the River District Town Centre and they will have lots of in store wine tastings happening during the festival.   The event also features live music by lots of local talent including Cory Owens and The Boom Booms.  The festival runs from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm and again it’s free. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Wine Trivia Night – Everything Wine Vancouver – June 6th

Everything Wine in River District is hosting a Wine Trivia Night this Friday night. Think you know your wines? Come test your knowledge with the host while enjoying some great wine and snacks. Cost is $20. Fun gets under way at 6:30 pm.

Houseplant Cuttings Swap – Templeton Park Pool – June 8th

You are invited to bring your healthy houseplants or plant cuttings to trade this Saturday at the Grassy Field at Templeton Park Pool, 700 Templeton Drive. The swap happens between 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  If you plant to pick up new cuttings, don’t forget to bring a few pots to place them in.

10th Annual Vancouver Craft Beer Festival – PNE Fairgrounds – June 8th & 9th 

If you love beer, this is the place to be this weekend. The 10th Annual Vancouver Craft Beer Festival happens this Saturday and Sunday at the PNE Fairgrounds.  Featuring over 300 beers and ciders from BC and the US, there will be lots on offer including food trucks.  Tickets are $39 for one day, or you can purchase a weekend pass for $65. Tickets are available through Ticketleader.

Bridal Pop Up – The Garden – June 8th

Are you planning a wedding?  The Garden in Strathcona, 868 East Hastings Street, is hosting a Bridal Pop Up this Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in their studio space. They will have bridal pieces, floral displays and a wedding planner on hand.  Free to attend.

Italian Day – Commercial Drive – June 9th

This is one of the biggest street parties in the City and a personal favourite, Italian Day happens this Sunday from Noon to 8:00 pm.  Car traffic is blocked from the Grandview Cut to Venables Street for the day. There will be lots of great eats, live music and activities for all ages. Free to attend and wander.

Retro Design & Antiques Fair – Croatian Cultural Centre – June 9th

This Sunday you can find some 185 tables with vintage, collectables and antiques at the Croatian Cultural Centre. The event goes from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm .

Main Street Mixed Bag – Ellis Building – June 9th

Main Street Mixed Bag happens this Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Ellis Building at 1024 Main Street.  Great opportunity to check out awesome local talent and who knows what you might find. Admission is free. Kids and dogs welcome.

Cabaret Cirque – Rio Theatre – June 9th

A new production featuring a sexy circus cabaret comes to the Rio Theatre Sunday night. Cabaret Cirque features a sultry evening of entertainment with dancers, contortionists and a whole lot more. Show gets under way at 7:30 pm. Advance tickets are $25 and tickets at the door $30.

Looking for more live music, did you know The Heatley in Strathcona regularly features live music?  Every Sunday they offer bluegrass music with brunch 11 am – 3 pm.

Also 7 days a week, you will find live music at the Libra Room on The Drive. Tangent Café hosts live jazz Sunday nights  from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Saturday, Pat’s Pub has live jazz Saturday afternoons from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, no cover.

Looking to shop local? Be sure to check out one of the farmer markets happening this weekend. Saturday is Riley Park Farmers Market at 30th & Ontario from 10 am – 2 pm and Trout Lake Farmers Market from 9 am – 2 pm at John Hendry Park. Sunday, Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is back in Dude Chilling Park from 10:00 am – 2 pm. Custom Cocktail Class At Everything Wine Vancouver Friday May 31st

Looking for something fun to do this Friday night?  How about learning to make some top notch cocktails.  Everything Wine Vancouver in the new River District has an amazing space for workshops and this Friday it’s all about cocktails.  You will learn to make an Old Fashioned, Gin Sour, Whiskey Sour, Last Word, Dark Angel and a Vodka Martini, apparently with some of the BEST vodka you’ve ever had. The event will be featuring spirits from the Roots and Wings Distillery and not only will you learn to make the cocktails, but you will of course be tasting them as well.  Cost is $25 and there are a few spaces left. The Wonders Of Wine From Eastern Europe May 15th At Everything Wine Vancouver

Many of us know wines from some of the well known wine making regions, France, California, Australia and our own Okanagan Valley.  Have you tried wines from Eastern Europe?  On Wednesday, May 15th Mark Konstantinov will take you on a tour of wines from a sampling of regions such as Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Maldova, Georgia and Hungary. These areas are rich with history, which Mark will touch on during the workshop. You will also have the opportunity to try a number of wines from these regions, we suspect ones you’ve likely never been exposed to.  The event takes place at the Everything Wine store located in River District in SE Vancouver. This is a beautiful store with an amazing selection with a great space for their tasting classes.  Cost of the workshop is $25.00. Class runs 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
