Classic Gin Cocktails – Everything Wine Vancouver – May 3rd

Want to learn how to make great gin cocktails? The Everything Wine store located in River District in SE Vancouver has a great set up for small workshops. Not to mention these classes are education and fun. This Friday, they will be leading a class where you will learn a little gin history and then learn to make 5 classic gin cocktails. Cost is $25. Trout Lake Farmers Market – John Hendry Park – May 4th

The largest and much loved Trout Lake Farmers Market kicks off this Saturday, May 4th at 9:00 and continues to 2:00 pm.

Movie ‘Green Book’ – Rio Theatre – May 4th

Did you catch Green Book which won Oscars for Best Picture and Best Actor Mahershala Ali? If not, you can watch it on the big screen at The Rio Theatre this Saturday afternoon. The movie is a true story of a working-class Italian-American bouncer from the Bronx  who becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist who tours the US in the 1960s.  For advance tickets, visit Rio Theatre.

Noor Student Showcase – Havana Theatre – May 4th

Noor Dance Company is hosting a student showcase of bellydancing at Havana Theatre this Saturday night.  Performances will include the instructors as well as the students.  Tickets are $18 and the fun kicks off at 7:30 pm. For tickets, visit Showpass.

June Hunter Studio Sale – 2785 Parker Street – May 4th & 5th

East Van artist, June Hunter, is hosting a Studio Sale this Saturday and Sunday.  In case you forgot, Mother’s Day is coming up May 12th and June has lots of beautiful items on hand that would make a perfect gift for mom.  June’s studio is located at 2785 Parker Street (one block west of Renfrew – between Hastings St. and First Avenue).  Sale happens from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Got Craft? – Maritime Labour Centre – May 4th & May 5th

Got Craft? Spring Edition is at the Maritime Labour Centre this weekend with 85 local makers.  We hear this market almost half of the vendors are new, so expect a whole new selection of local handmade goods. Event runs 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $3. For advance tickets, visit Eventbrite. Hint: Free Swag Bags for the first 50 paid attendees.

Cinco De Mayo Fest – Trout Lake Community Centre – May 5th

This Sunday Trout Lake Community Centre is hosting a family friendly Cinco De Mayo Fest from Noon to 3:00 pm. There will be Mexican music by Son De Maple, arts and crafts and an on theme food truck. The event is free, but registration is requested.

Pastry Weekend – Beta 5 Chocolates – May 4th & 5th

Love fresh pastries? Beat 5 Chocolates are featuring their greatest hits this weekend and they include 3 amazing pastries. You’ll have to try for yourself. They are available as of 10:00 am Saturday 413 Industrial Avenue.

21st Century Flea Market – Croatian Cultural Centre – May 5th

Lots of great finds at this weekend’s 21st Century Flea Market at the Croatian Cultural Centre. Event happens 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.


Looking for more live music, did you know The Heatley in Strathcona regularly features live music?  Every Sunday they offer bluegrass music with brunch 11 am – 3 pm.

Also 7 days a week, you will find live music at the Libra Room on The Drive. Tangent Café hosts live jazz Sunday nights  from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Saturday, Pat’s Pub has live jazz Saturday afternoons from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, no cover.

Looking to shop local? Be sure to check out one of the farmer markets happening this weekend.
