Rescue Me: Snow White Cat Marlee Looking For Her Forever Home

14 Nov

MarleeWelcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to a sweet girl appropriately named Marlee.  This snow white female short hair cat is approximately 1 year old. She came to the Vancouver SPCA as a stray and although she had a tattoo, the SPCA was unable to reach her owners.  So now this happy little spitfire of a girl is looking for a forever home.  But full disclosure, Marlee is deaf. Thus, she must be a strictly indoor cat for her own safety because of her hearing impairment.  Marlee loves to perch herself by a window and meow at a passerby. She is a happy loving girl who is a bit half dog/half cat and the SPCA feels she might do well with some harness and leash training so she can safely enjoy a bit of outdoor time with you.   She is a very confident and social cat and loves to be around people.   When alone she can sometimes be rather vocal and since she can’t hear herself meow, it’s a little louder than she realizes. For this reason, her friends at the Vancouver SPCA think that apartment dwelling might not be the best for her.  This blue eyed beauty would love to find herself a loving forever home with a family that will nurture her for the rest of her days. Could that be you or someone you know? If so, Marlee’s friends at the BC SPCA Vancouver Branch would love to hear from you whether by telephone at 604-879-7721 or by email at vancouver@spca.bc.ca. As always, we thank you in advance for sharing this information to help find this lovely girl find her forever home. Purrrrrr.

UPDATED November 20th: Marlee has found her forever home.

Rescue Me: Gordy Looking For Her Fovever Home

26 Oct

GordySPCACat2014Welcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to a lovely sassy girl. Her name is Gordy. She is an adult female short hair cat that is 6 years old.  Gordy came to the Vancouver SPCA’s care as a stray and has not been claimed by her owners. She enjoys the company of adults and is a pretty independent girl. This sometimes sassy girl likes affection on her own terms. Gordy is looking for a human friend who understands this about her.  The folks at the Vancouver SPCA think her ideal home would be with one individual so she can give you all the love she has.  They also feel that Gordy would be fine if you  have a busy schedule as she tends to entertain herself just fine, but she will definitely be awaiting your arrival home. Her friends at the Vancouver SPCA say that Gordy is good with other felines so a correctly matched kitty companion might suit her well. We understand Gordy loves to chatter (literally) back at you when you talk to her. This pretty girl with a black heart shaped nose is hoping you will let her be the queen she thinks she is. So you are invited to head down to the Vancouver SPCA and say hello to this sweet girl. As Gordy is  a long-term resident, she is a no cost adoption. If you think you could give Gordy a forever home, or know someone that can, please contact the BC SPCA Vancouver Branch by telephone at 604-879-7721 or by email at vancouver@spca.bc.ca.  As always, we thank you in advance for sharing this information to help find this lovely girl find her forever home.  Purrrrrr.

UPDATE November 18th: Gordy has found her forever home.

Rescue Me: Phoebe Is Looking For Her Forever Home

30 Sep

PhoebeVanSPCAWelcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA. Today we would like to introduce you to a lovely cat named Phoebe. She is a beautiful plus sized sweetie with a snowy white coat. Phoebe came to the Vancouver SPCA in early September as her caretakers were no longer able to give her the care and attention that she required. Phoebe had been living with them for the last three years. Previous to that she had been living happily with her original caretaker, but when her original caretaker became ill, Phoebe was re-homed with friends.  Having had two homes in her short lifetime, the Vancouver SPCA is hoping that Phoebe will finally find her forever family. Phoebe would do best in a household where she is the only pet, as her diet needs to be carefully monitored. Due to her large size, Phoebe isn’t able to move quickly, therefore she will need to be kept indoors where it is safe. Phoebe has lived with both men and women, but she is extremely fond of women. When she hears a woman’s voice she waddles over to investigate. Phoebe loves lounging around, being social and being groomed. She is a quiet girl and has a barely audible meow. If you think you could give Phoebe her forever home, or know someone that can, please contact the BC SPCA Vancouver Branch by telephone at 604-879-7721 or by email at vancouver@spca.bc.ca.Phoebe is currently in foster care, but her friends at the Vancouver SPCA are happy to set up a meet and greet.  As always, we thank you in advance for sharing this information to help Phoebe find her forever home.

UPDATED October 16, 2014 – Phoebe has found her forever home.

Rescue Me: Cady Looking For Her Forever Home

10 Sep

CadyVanSPCAWelcome to the next installment of Rescue Me in which we feature pets waiting for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA.  Today we would like to introduce to a lovely cat named Cady.  She is 5 year old tortoise shell and like most tortoise shell cats has a bit of ‘tortitude’ or so the lovely people at the Vancouver SPCA have found. Cady came to them as a stray on July 6th and has remained there since.  Although the Vancouver SPCA found her ‘people’ they did not come to claim her :-(. So this lovely girl now patiently waits for the puuurfect home.   The Vancouver SPCA thinks Cady is best suited for an adult only home without any other creatures where she can happily snuggle with you indoors.  In the SPCA’s experience, the tortoise shell cats can be rather independent, moody and a little possessive of their humans.  But Cady has shown that she easily bonds with people that she meets and enjoys giving gentle head butts.  She is a quiet girl and is happy to hang out on her own when you go off to work.   They expect she’s the kind of girl that will greet you at the door when you come home.   If you think you could give Cady her forever home, or know someone that can, please contact the BC SPCA Vancouver Branch by telephone at 604-879-7721 or by email at vancouver@spca.bc.ca. Psst this lovely girl even has her own You Tube video that shows off her beautiful green eyes, take a peak.  As always, we thank you in advance for sharing this information to help Cady find her forever home.

Rescue Me:  Benny – Labrador Retriever Looking For His Forever Home

21 Jul

BennySPCAwithToyIn our next installment of Rescue Me where we feature pets looking for adoption at the Vancouver SPCA, we introduce you to Benny.  He is a wonderful 7 year old Labrador Retriever with a beautiful flaxen coat.  Benny came to the Vancouver SPCA through a call to the cruelty line as neighbours had noticed he had been tethered on a back deck for weeks.  They believe the guardian eventually returned to check on him and bring food and water. When it was apparent he had been abandoned, Vancouver SPCA officers brought Benny to the Vancouver Shelter.   His friends at the Vancouver SPCA believe he was kept in the yard often, but not all the time as he is alert and very aware of people. Although initially nervous with staff, he has shown to be a smart and playful boy who loves his balls, toys and sticks.   He knows several commands including sit, paw, high-five and sit pretty.  His idea of heaven = belly rubs. Benny has shown to be a sweet boy, but will require a quieter adult only home with people that are savvy and experienced with dog behaviour.    If you can provide a forever home for Benny, or know someone who can, the Vancouver SPCA would love to hear from you. Feel free to contact them by stopping by the Vancouver SPCA Shelter, 1205 East 7th Avenue, or by Telephone: 604.879.7721 or Email: vancouver@spca.bc.ca. As always, we thank you in advance for sharing this information to help Benny find his forever home.

Rescue Me: Penni Looking For Her Forever Home

24 Jun

PenniVancouverSPCA

Welcome to our next installment of Rescue Me where we help spread the word of pets waiting to be adopted at the Vancouver SPCA. Today, we introduce you to darling Penni. She is a senior female Terrier Cross looking for her forever home. This lovely little girl has lots of love to give and is looking for human companions who are willing to shower this girl with some love. Penni loves going for walks and being outdoors and is friendly with other dogs.  Thus, her friends at the Vancouver SPCA think she would be happy in a home with another canine friend.  This girl is used to having someone at home, therefore would need a bit of time to adjust to being left alone.   Penni  does need someone with a schedule that will allow them to take her for frequent outings so she’ll learn to do her business outdoors, though she is pee-pad trained.  Although Penni is a bit shy at first, she warms up quickly and is full of joy and will welcome you with her endlessly wagging tail followed by snuggles on your lap. This lovely little girl is waiting ever so patiently for someone to love, and a home to call her own.   For more information or to meet Penni, please contact the Vancouver SPCA Shelter, 1205 East 7th Avenue, Telephone: 604.879.7721 or Emal: vancouver@spca.bc.ca.   Penni is currently in foster care, but Vancouver SPCA staff will be happy to introduce you. As always, feel free to share this post with your friends to help Penni find her forever home.

UPDATE: Penni has found her forever home.

Rescue Me: Charlie & Friends at Vancouver SPCA Looking For Their Forever Homes

30 Jan

CharlieVanSPCAOne

Hi, my name is Charlie.  I am a 7 year old male cat. Some may say I’m a bit of a tomcat.  I am a well behaved indoor kitty who was used to living in an apartment until my elderly owner became ill. Now my temporary home is the Vancouver SPCA.  I am now looking for a new forever home.  I am friendly with people, will purr like crazy if you scratch my cheeks. I must be honest though and tell you I am not used to being around lots of people, kids or dogs.  After hanging out at the shelter for a bit, I have learnt I don’t really like other cats all that much, bit of an independent spirit I guess.  I do enjoy playing with my toys and like to use my scratching post.  Like most pets I do like a nice routine. I think I would be perfect company for an adult living alone.  If you want to see me online, you can check me out on my video.  Check out my beautiful green eyes, aren’t they lovely? Do you know someone who would like a handsome tomcat to hang out with?

While you are stopping by, can I introduce you to some of my shelter buddies? Like me, they are looking for a forever home.  Meet my friends Clover & Marigold and Jasmine & Astrid. They are bonded pairs of young female rabbits that came from a home with way too many bunnies. They said there were 11 of them that came together, but now they are the only 4 remaining from the original group. They are looking for a cool forever home to hang out at.  Do you know someone that could give them a home?  They are such beautiful bunnies.

If you or someone you know could give me or my friends a home, the Vancouver SPCA would love to hear from you, heck we’d love to hear from you, but you have to come see us for that.  You can reach the Vancouver SCPA by email at Vancouver@spca.b.ca or by phone or 604.879.7721, or stop by and see us at 1205 East 7th Avenue. Thanks!  If you wish to share this on Twitter or Facebook with your friends, we won’t mind.

SPCA Rescue Me: Sky Is Looking For Her Forever Home

9 Oct

SPCASky

Sky is a beautiful young Pit Bull Terrier cross. She is mixed with Dogo Argentino which is a large, white, muscular dog that originates from Argentina.  She is approximately 10 months old and is a very friendly and curious girl.  As she is still very young, she is quite excitable, thus requires some basic obedience training.  Sky had been kept in a backyard, thus will require gradual introduction to other dogs.  She needs to be physically active, but in a home environment that is calm with consistent routines. She is best suited for an adult only home. Her current home is the Vancouver SPCA Shelter, but she would really like her forever home with lots of walks, plays and TLC.  Do you know someone that could give this lovely girl her forever home?   If so, the Vancouver SPCA would love to hear from you by email at vancouver@spca.bc.ca or by telephone at T: 604.879.7721.

Psst if you wish to check out Sky’s playful side, check out her YouTube video.

As always, we are grateful to those willing to share this information with others so Sky can find her forever home.

UPDATE November 20, 2013: Sky has found her forever home and is one very happy girl.

Rescue Me: Licorice Is Looking for His Forever Home

6 Sep

Licorice

Licorice is a 6 month old beautiful black Dutch bunny that has been at the SPCA Vancouver since his birth.  He was one of 8 babies born at the shelter on March 9th, 2013 to Mama Christie.  Licorice has a right eye that is blue which is typical of Dutch bunnies.   This bunny loves a big plate of mixed salad including, of course, carrots as well as parsley and cilantro.  He also loves craisins, dried banana treats, alfalfa and timothy hay.  Licorce also loves to chew wooden toys and can be quite robust and throw around baby toys.  Like his litter mates, Licorice, is curious and inquisitive and will make a loving companion in a bunny savvy home.  As Licorice has been raised indoors, he will make a good house rabbit and a great companion for an existing bunny.    As Dutch bunnies have a delicate skeletal structure, they are not suitable pets for young children.  Rabbits can have a lifespan of 8 to 12 years.  Do you know someone that can give this bunny a forever home?  If so, the Vancouver SPCA would like to hear from you.  They can be reached at T: 604.879.7721 or by email at Vancouver@spca.bc.ca

As always, we are grateful to those willing to share this information with others so Licorice can find his forever home.

UPDATE: Licorice has found his forever home with a new bunny friend.
