Road Trip Episode of Me Love Bingo At The Russian Hall November 16, 2019

MeLoveBingoYou are hereby invited to a fun night out!  The Theatre Replacement, a local theatre company, is hosting their annual fundraiser Saturday, November 16th at the Russian Hall, 600 Campbell Avenue.   Come buckle up for a wild ride of Road Trip Episode Me Love Bingo! Kyle Loven will be hosting the event in a gold costume we hear for what is expected to be a campy night of games, amazing prizes, sweet tunes and zero speeding tickets. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the fun and games get under way at 8:00 pm.  Admission is $20, but note bingo papers are a separate purchase at the door for $15. Some great silent auctions will also be on hand to raise some funds. So go have some fun while supporting local art!   Tickets available through Eventbrite.

Eat.Drink.Play. At The Firehall Arts Centre Thursday June 22, 2017

Eat.Drink.Play2017The Firehall Arts Centre invites you to Eat.Drink.Play. being held on Thursday, June 22nd from 7:00 – 10:00 pm at the Firehall Arts Centre, 280 East Cordova Street.  This annual fundraiser brings together some of East Van’s best restaurants, craft brewers, small-batch distillers and performers for an evening of sampling and sharing.  The event takes over the Firehall’s entire premises including theatre, lobby, studio, courtyard as well as the dressing rooms.  Throughout the Firehall, you will find an array of delectable treats, eclectic dance, music and performances as well as a silent auction.  Eat.Drink.Play will feature selections of food from neighbourhood hot spots  The Diamond, Deacon’s Corner, Clough Club, Tuc Craft Kitchen, Kofta Meatball Kitchen, Save On Meats, The Pint and Cadeaux Bakery. Libation samples will also be available from local brewers Powell Brewery, Big Rock Brewery, Andina Brewing Company, Strange Fellows Brewing, Strathcona Beer Company and Steamworks. Also on hand will be local craft distiller, Odd Society Spirits, returning to serve up samples of their signature vodka and gin.  You can expect a smorgasbord of delectable treats and enjoyable performances as you roam through the heritage building sampling food, enjoying libations, and bidding on some amazing silent auction items. The cast of the Firehall’s recent hit Circle Game: Reimagining of the Music of Joni Mitchell will be on hand to provide some great tunes. The Firehall Arts Centre has been producing performing arts for 35 years in this beautiful heritage building at the corner of Cordova and Gore. We invite you to lend your support for our City’s vibrant and innovative arts community. Tickets for Eat.Drink.Play are $38 and $22 for artists and are available online at Firehall Arts Centre.

6th Annual Britannia Garden Party Fundraiser July 7th

BritanniaGardenParty.jpgYou are invited to the 6th Annual Britannia Garden Party Fundraiser on the evening of July 7th. The location of this event is the Britannia Secondary School sports field which will be turned into one large garden party.  In the garden you will be served a  gourmet meal made from local fare which will include veg and non-veg entrees, salads, corn on the cob, nugget potatoes and more. For dessert, you can expect homemade pie and ice cream.   As this is a fundraiser, there will be a Silent Auction component to the evening and we hear over 50 items have been donated by East Van merchants, services, breweries, restaurants and cafes. Some of the names we’ve heard that have donated include the Licorice Parlour, Kali 1000 Commercial, Wonderbucks Wonderful Living, Fratelli Bakery,  Merchant’s Oyster Bar, Bikes on the Drive, Sunset Grill Vancouver, Ocean and Crow Yoga/Space and Arriva Italian Restaurant. The funds raised from this event will be used to teach kids about gardening and community.  This is a family friendly event with games and activities for all ages, live local music, a storyteller for the kids and a juice bar featuring homemade ginger beer (non-alcoholic), lemonade, kambucha and iced tea.  Tickets for this event are $30 per person, children aged 6-12 are $15 and children under 6 are free.  Added bonus when you buy your ticket, the Commercial Drive Scotiabank will be matching funds. MetamorFest Community Festival in Mount Pleasant September 27th

You are invited to Metamorfest, 800 East Broadway, on Saturday, September 27th from Noon – 6:00 pm.  This is an annual community festival that celebrates the diverse Mount Pleasant community. They will showcase all the best aspects of this neighbourhood including the local businesses and organizations that strive to make this a great neighbourhood.  The festival will take place on two street blocks: one north of East Broadway on Fraser Street to Sahalli Park and one south of East Broadway on Prince Albert Street. Connecting the two streets on East Broadway will be an art walk brought to you by the Broadway East Art Walk. The Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House will also be hosting activities inside their building on the corner of Broadway and Prince Albert Street. Likewise, the Broadway Youth Resource Centre and Vancouver Native Housing will do so in their brand new building on the corner of Broadway and Fraser.

Metamorfest will have live music on 3 different stages, an art walk, and many activities and booths for children, seniors, and everyone in between. Organizations and businesses have booked booths that will line each of the streets. Each booth will also have an activity to go along with it. There will also be a Silent Auction going on throughout the event which include some fantastic donations.  Or you can come and enjoy a workshop on Zumba and Laughter Yoga or just check out all the great things that Mount Pleasant has to offer as you wander the streets and listen to great local artists and bands. For those that get hungry, there will be a couple of food trucks on hand on day as well as a BBQ provided by Buy-Low Foods.  Everyone is welcome to attend this free event that is fun for all ages.

Barktoberfest: Fundraiser for SPCA Coming October 3, 2013

You are invited to Barktoberfest being held on October 3rd at Ceili’s Irish Pub, 670 Smithe Street. Although the location is outside of East Van, this event is to raise funds for the Vancouver and Burnaby SPCA Shelters.  Tickets for the event are $10.00 which includes admission and a drink ticket or for $25 you get a burger, beer and a ticket for the raffle entry. Note a veggie option will be available.  There will be games, a silent auction, raffle draws, 50/50 draw and swag.  The goal is raise $5,000 for the evening.  You can purchase tickets online or at the door. Proud sponsors of this event are some local East Van businesses Arts Automotive and Aqua Paws Canine Water Wellness. The event gets under way at 6:00 p.m.

The Havana Theatre, 1212 Commercial Drive, invites you to join the Academy Award-nominated child star turned author, Quinn Cummings, as she recounts charmingly absurd tales of life in Hollywood, from her acting days to her transition as an author. A talk and reading will be followed by an audience Q & A session and a silent auction.

Quinn Cummings is a former child star best known for her Oscar-nominated role in Neil Simon’s The Goodbye Girl and the acclaimed TV series Family, as well as the author of the humorous memoir Notes From the Underwire and a chronicle of homeschooling The Year of Learning Dangerously. She lives with her family in Los Angeles and maintains the popular blog, the QC Report.

All proceeds from this event will benefit Kids Help Phone, a free, anonymous and confidential phone and on-line professional counselling service for youth. Note tax receipts cannot be issued.
