Vancouver Story Slam is Canada’s longest-running live monthly storytelling competition. On April 25th, you are invited to a special invitational edition of Vancouver Story Slam as part of Verses Festival of Words happening April 18th to 29th. The Vancouver Story Slam Invitational takes place at the Wise Hall. It features ten storytellers including our contributing writer Al Tee who will be taking the stage to share original short stories for cash and prizes. 50 audience members will receive voting ballots to select the night’s winning storytellers. In December, the 2017 Story Slam Championship Final sold out the 420-seat Rio, so you may wish to get your tickets sooner vs. later. You can find them at Brown Paper Tickets. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the event gets under way at 6:45 pm. Advance tickets are $10 or $12 at the door. This is a 19+ event with no minors, cash bar will be available.

Vancouver Story Slam is back at the
You are invited to an evening of original stories on July 12th at the Cottage Bistro, 4470 Main Street. The event is hosted by Vancouver Story Slam which is organized by Susan Cormier and hosted by Bryant Ross. Ten storytellers will take the stage and share their original stories with you. Those participating in July include Alexis Sugden, Bailey Bjolin, James, Jim Murray, Kyla del Rosario, Lozan Yamolky, Mary Parlange, Ryan Uytdewilligen, Shlomo McPeake and Susan Levang. The evening opens with a tale by guest performer J.P. Lorence. The event is $5 and that also gets you a ballot giving you the opportunity to vote on your favourite story. There are cash prizes awarded to the winners. Those winners are in turn invited to participate at their annual storytelling championship finals. The event on July 12th gets underway at 8:00 pm.
