The Vancouver Farmers Market is hosting their annual Holiday Market this Saturday, December 12th at the Croatian Cultural Centre, 3250 Commercial Drive. Now in its 19th year, this event is a seasonal celebration of food and art and runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. This Saturday, you will find over 60 vendors offering everything from delicious food items such as cheese, fresh bread, olive oil, chocolates jams, coffee and honey as well as handmade jewellery, delectable desserts including homemade pies plus home accessories such as handmade cutting boards. There will be lots on hand perfect for gift giving or holiday entertaining this holiday seasons such as BC Wine Studio’s Siren’s Call Pinot Noir. Admission to the market is $3.00, but free if you are a Market Member. Vancouver Farmers Market Returns To Hastings Park March 8th

Vancouver Farmers Market is pleased to announce the Hastings Park Farmers Market is returning this Spring. As many will recall, it had a 9 week trial run this past winter at this location and by all accounts it was a great success. So it’s back starting Sunday, March 8th every weekend until April 26th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The market will again be located at Hastings Park between the Forum and the Agrodome. You will be able to stroll down tree-lined pathways under twinkling lights and wander through the Italian Garden. There is a playground close at hand for those coming with little ones. The market will, of course, feature many great local vendors and will have a great selection of produce, fish, meat & dairy, artisan prepared foods, baking & treats, coffee, local crafts and of course some hot food trucks. The market runs rain or shine. See you at the market!

Food Truck Fest February At Vancouver Farmers Market – Nat Bailey Stadium

Vancouver Farmers Market invites you to Food Truck Fest starting Saturday, February 7th at Nat Bailey Stadium. Vancouver Farmers Market plans on a bit of a competition amongst the participating food trucks at this month’s event. There will be several honours bestowed. VFM will be challenging each of the food trucks to come up with a new Market Menu item and you get to decide which one is the best. While the food trucks work on their new Market Menu item, they will be asked to submit their sources so they can determine who is using the most local ingredients for Most Local honours. Next up is Judge’s Choice. A panel of esteemed judges (to be announced) will sample all the Market Menu items and decide which one is the best.
Food Truck February is a zero waste event. All food trucks are asked to use only compostable or recyclable serving containers and utensils. There will be lots of seating and heaters to keep everyone warm and of course there will amazing live music. Vancouver Farmers Market kicks off Saturday at 10:00 am and runs till 2:00 pm at Nat Bailey Stadium with an amazing line up of local vendors as well as all the delicious food trucks. NEW Winter Market At Hastings Park October 5th To November 30th

Vancouver Farmers Market is pleased to announce they will be opening a second Winter Market in East Vancouver. This 9 week trial market will be located at Hastings Park between the Forum and the Agrodome. The market starts Sunday, October 5th and will run every Sunday to November 30th between 10:00 am – 2:00 pm rain or shine.

Tomato Fest At Trout Lake Farmers Market Saturday August 23rd

This Saturday you are invited to come out to the Trout Lake Farmers Market and celebrate tomatoes! Vancouver Farmers Market will be showcasing the diversity of tomatoes grown by local farmers with over 150 varieties on hand. You will be able to find all sorts of shapes, colours, sizes, heirlooms, hybrids, organic, greenhouse and conventional.
You can expect to find a tomato display, recipes, information as well as a tasting station with samples of Black Krim, Green Zebra, Taxi, Brandywine and many more. This year, they will also be celebrating the sweeter side of tomatoes in honour of award-winning gelatiere, James Coleridge from Bella Gelateria. James will be crafting a tomato basil gelato from Sole Food Street Farms tomatoes and Earth Apple Farm basil. This limited edition gelato will be available at the Trout Lake Farmers Market this Saturday until it is sold out. Proceeds go to help support farmers markets in Vancouver. The Tomato Festival kicks off when the market starts at 9:00 a.m. and runs to 2:00 p.m.

Farmers Market at Main Street/Thornton Park Kicks Off Today!

Vancouver Farmers Market at Thornton Park across from the VIA Rail Station kicks off today at 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. You can expect to find 26 vendors on hand offering local and organic produce, seafood, meat, coffee, cheese, flowers, jewellery, bread, chocolate, honey and much more. In case you missed the news, local strawberries are out. You are bound to find some at the market. Come out and support your local makers!
Remember if are planning to take the Skytrain to make your way to this market, you will need to watch for specific trains that stop only at Main Street while the Main Street Skytrain Station is under construction.

Vancouver Farmers Market: Trout Lake DigIn! Festival Saturday May 24th

The Vancouver Farmers Market at Trout Lake is in full swing. This Saturday join them for their DigIn! Garden Festival which will include a market tour Meet Your Maker Growing Series. The tour begins at 9:30 am and runs for one hour. You will visit four vendors on topics such as seed-saving, beekeeping, carnivorous plants and growing dahlias. Tour members meet at the Market Information Booth at the west end of the market. Cost for the tour is $5.00. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Eventbrite. Note the tour will run rain or shine. Trout Lake Farmers Market will, of course, have a great selection of local vendors from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Trout Lake Farmers Market is located in John Hendry Park at Templeton Street & 13th Avenue.

Food Truck Fest In January At Winter Farmers Market

Join Vancouver Farmers Market as they kick off 2014 with a Food Truck Fest this Saturday, January 4th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Outside of some delicious reasons to shop local from all the great vendors on hand, you will now have double the choices from food cart vendors so you can lunch and shop.
Vancouver Farmers Market will be introducing some new recruits to their food cart line up. They will be hosting 4 new recruits every week at January’s Food Truck Fest. Just a few of the new recruits include Mangal Kiss Mid East BBQ, Culver City Salads and Mogu Japanese Street Eats. The new recruit with the most votes will be invited to join their summer markets. Sounds like a winning combination to me. The Winter Farmers Market is held at Nat Bailey Stadium, 4601 Ontario Street. The Food Truck Fest will continue every Saturday throughout the month of January.

The event takes place at the Croatian Cultural Centre, 3250 Commercial Drive (at 15th Avenue) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. this Saturday, December 14th. You will find over 75 vendors offering everything from delicious food items such as cheese, fresh bread, olive oil, chocolates jams, coffee and honey as well as handmade jewellery, delectable desserts including homemade pies plus home accessories and lots of items perfect for gift giving this Christmas or edible eats for entertaining over the holidays.
Also, on hand will be Vancouver Tool Library. Stop by and learn more about this interesting cooperative tool lending library in East Vancouver. Or stop by and visit Old Country Pierogi which is a local family business that operates a fully self-contained food cart offering pierogies (regular and gluten free ) with various fillings, potato pancakes, hunter’s stew, red borscht soup and cabbage rolls. Note, the outdoor winter market at Nat Bailey Stadium runs as usual from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Anyone who attends both markets is eligible to get a ballot stamped at each market for a chance to win a hardcover copy of Edible: A Celebration of Local Food.
