Happy New Year East Vancouver! A Retrospective In Photos – 2014

31 Dec

happy-new-yearWe thought we would do a little retrospective in photos to highlight some of the many great events hosted in East Van in 2014.  It’s been a busy year, there were so many amazing events this year. As to what was popular on our site, we can say it was a great artistic event, beer and spirits, live music & art. Specifically, the iconic Parade of Lost Souls, our write up on the Powell Street Self-Guided Tour, the 2nd Annual Beer Festival at Wise Hall, the Trout Lake Summer Concert Series and, of course, our personal favourite the Eastside Culture Crawl.  We hope you enjoy some of the photos from this past year.  Wishing everyone a wonderful New Year!

Giving Locally: RC Pet Products And Their 12 Days Of Giving

23 Dec

12DaysOfGiving

As many of you who follow us regularly know, we here at ILiveInEastVan.com are animal lovers as well as proud supporters of the BC SPCA. We support our local Vancouver shelter in many ways and were this year added to their list of community supporters. We appreciate all the work the staff and volunteers do each and every day for all those that cannot speak for themselves.

Today, we would like to introduce to a local business situated in SE Vancouver called RC Pet Products who also support their community by giving locally.  For those unfamiliar with this company, you may have seen their rather styling pet rain coats (fleece lined) around and about town. The 4 legged member of our family has been wearing one for years.  RC Pet Products also carries leashes, collars, seatbelt harnesses for both cats and dogs as well as many pet accessories. You will find their products at many local retailers including Tisol Pet Products on Main Street and Grandview Highway, Three Dog Bakery on Main Street and Pet Parlour on Fraser Street to name just a few.

RC Pet Products has made us very happy this year.  The fine folks at ILiveInEastVan.com have been doing a collection with friends and neighbours these last few weeks to provide some much needed items to the BC SPCA Vancouver Shelter this holiday season. We approached RC Pet Products to see whether they would be kind enough to provide some coats, leashes and collars for the Vancouver SPCA and Charlie’s Food Bank. For those unfamiliar with Charlie’s Food Bank, it is a weekly pet food bank operated by the BC SPCA that assists over 5,000 low income pet guardians on the Downtown Eastside each year.   RC Pet Products answered the call to giving locally.  Not only have they provided us with an array of dog coats, collars and leashes for the BC SPCA Vancouver Shelter and Charlie’s Food Bank, as part of their 12 Days Of Giving, they have donated items to other rescue organizations doing great work in our communities. They include:

SAINTS Rescue
Paws For Hope
Best Friends For Life
Cross Our Paws Rescue
Big Heart Rescue
Carried Through
Action for Animals In Distress Society
Richmond Animal Protection Society
Greyhound Pets Inc.
Dogwood Rescue
Dhana Metta Rescue Society
Cera Dogs Society

We wish to thank RC Pet Products for giving locally and for supporting the work of so many great organizations that help keep animals safe, happy and healthy. We wish all our four legged, two legged and our feathered friends a very Merry Christmas.  Below is a pic of some of the many items that are being delivered to the Vancouver SPCA this holiday season.  Pssst and there is a basket of edible goodies for the volunteers and staff at the Vancouver Shelter.
