Pasta Like A Pro: Southern Italia – February 23, 2023

If you love fresh pasta, this class is for you. You are invited to roll up your sleeves and learn how to make some Italian staples from scratch. This is a hands-on class in which Chef Deniz while guide you through each step. You’ll leave this class with the working knowledge of how to make your own dough, form authentic Italian pasta shapes, create a timeless ragu, plus garnishing the Mediterranean way. Modern Peruvian – March 7, 2023

Acclaimed local chef Shelome Bouvette invites you on a journey of flavours through Peru. You will be introduced to classic Peruvian comfort food with a contemporary twist. We’ve set out the menu below:

Cheesemaking 101: Mozzarella, Bocconcini & Burrata – March 5, 2023

You are invited to learn how to create your own  mozzarella, burrata and bocconcini using store bought milk. This class is led by Paula Nelson-Maddison who will teach you the science behind cheese in this 2 hour taste, touch and feel demonstration class. Paula will also show you unique and creative ways of serving these cheeses. For this demonstration class, each student will take home a kit so you can make 4 pounds of cheese at home along with online support.

Introduction to Pastry – November 5, 2022

Chef Andrei Godoroja, winner of ‘Great Canadian Baking Show’, will be leading this hands on pastry class. For those not familiar with pastry marking, it encompasses a wide spectrum of textures and techniques. In this class, you will learn to produce wonderfully flaky pastry that may be the basis of the most impressive and fastest desserts. We’ve set out below what you will be making in this class:

Caren’s Holiday Appetizers 1 – November 23, 2022

Go Nuts For Doughnuts – November 26, 2022

Who does not love doughnuts? On November 26th, in this hands-on class, Chef Deniz Tarakcioglu will teach you how to make four different types of doughnuts and yes, you will make them yourself. Expect to learn the proper techniques including proofing, rolling out dough, correct practices for cutting and shaping dough and consistent frying. Chef Deniz will guide you through each step. Taste of Taverna – December 1, 2022

Chef Deniz Tarakcioglu is back to lead this demonstration cooking class that shares the delish delicacies that Greece has to offer in “Taste of Taverna”. Ingredients that will feature prominently in the dishes include Roasted Garlic, Pistachio, Honeycomb and Lemon. Chef Deniz has spent his life in Turkey and the Mediterranean learning from friends and family the heart of European cuisine which he loves to share in each of his classes. The Flavours of Peru – October 18, 2022

You are invited to take a journey and experience the flavours of Peru with local chef Shelome Bouvette. She will be showcasing classic Peruvian comfort food with a contemporary twist. Chef Shelome has expertise from such infamous restaurants Lolita’s and CHICHA. If you’ve been to either, you know it’s going to be good. Menu for the evening will be:

Spring Dessert Virtual Class With Chef Giulia Lombardo March 28th

Giulia Lombardo invites you to join her for a virtual cooking class this Sunday, March 28th. In this 1 hour class, Giulia will show you how to prepare a delicious English trifle dessert with an Italian twist. You will learn step-by-step how to make a trifle that’s layered with lemon curd, vanilla cake, Chantilly cream and fresh peaches. Before your virtual class, you will receive the full Trifle recipe by email with the ingredients and your shopping list. During the virtual class, Giulia will provide step-by-step instructions on how to create this delish dessert. If on the other hand you prefer to watch the video and make the trifle after at your own pace, you have that option as well. This virtual class is by donation with a suggested price of $20 per person. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. To register, visit Eventbrite. Virtual Cooking Class With Just Giulia February 12th

Giulia Lombardo invites you to join her for a virtual cooking class this Friday, February 12th. Giulia is going to teach you how easy it is to make fresh pasta. You can follow along step by step as she cooks, or watch her cook and then try it on your own after the cooking class. The menu for this upcoming class is:

Having brought various ceviches to gatherings with friends, it is always a popular hit and easy to keep some aside to make a vegan option.  On September 19th, Sue Wiebe hosts a class at Gourmet Warehouse showing you how easy it is to put together a Mexican spread with fresh ingredients.  This is an evening class beginning at 6:00 pm. Everyday Thai – Saturday, April 13th 11:00 am – 2:00 pm 

Chef Cindy Low will demonstrate how easy it is to prepare delicious and mouth-watering Thai dishes, from an everyday curry to exotic Tom Yum spaghetti with prawns. You will learn about lemongrass, curry pastes, kaffir lime leaves, galangal, and more. You are encouraged to come hungry. Here’s what you’ll learn to make:

• Ling Cod Vindaloo with crispy curry leaves
• Mexican smoked chili and guava braised beef short rib with an avocado crema
• South Indian spiced pork tenderloin alongside lemon rice
• Burnt pineapple and cardamom ice cream

Easy Vegetarian – Thursday, May 9th 6:00 – 9:00 pm

Chef Mark Singson who was runner up in Season 6 of Top Chef Canada is going to be demonstrating some unique flavor combinations as well as plate presentations.  Food and fun re on the menu including these delectable dishes:

• Singson’s signature hummus with fire grilled sourdough
• Oven roasted beet salad with fresh chèvre and lemon vinaigrette
• Medley of chickpeas and assorted vegetables served with potatoes and seasoned

Workshop: Preserving The Summer Bounty August 8, 2018

PreservingSummerBountyAugust8Our friends at The Uncommon Café, 477 Powell Street, have a workshop lined up this August that will help preserve some of your summer bounty. On August 8th, Valentine Kitamura owner of Tartine Maple will lead a class at The Uncommon Café. If you don’t know this space already, it is great little café and commissary located across the street from Oppenheimer Park. In this summer workshop, Valentine will show you how to make some delish preserves while also teaching you some basic preserving techniques. Some of what you’d be making in this upcoming class include Apple & Jalapeno Jelly, Vodka Drunken Cherries, Salsa and Canned Peaches. Did we mention these folks know how to do workshops? While learning about preserving, sip on a glass of wine during the class along with a snack or two. You will go home a 4 oz jar size of each item made and printed recipe cards.
