For those that follow us regularly on social media, you will see we have been sharing a photo out of a sweet mixed breed medium sized dog Littlefoot that is missing in East Vancouver. Littlefoot show was out for a walk with his guardian approximately 10 days ago and his guardian had a seizure. The dog is a rescue who got spooked during his guardian’s medical emergency and ran. His owners are desparately trying to find him and Animal Control almost had him on Monday after a confirmed sighting at 32nd Avenue and Fleming. Apparently, the pup found himself a nice hiding spot under a porch at East 29th Avenue and Perry Street, not from Charles Dickens Elementary School where he was spotted a week ago. So it appears he isn’t traveling too far. They have a pet searcher on the case to help locate Littlefoot. They ask for your help in keeping an eye out for Littlefoot but ask that you PLEASE DO NOT APPROACH him but INSTEAD CALL Jocelyn Aspa IF YOU HAVE SEEN HIM at T: 604.805.4670 OR 250.589.2093. If you are on Twitter, you can also reach Jocelyn @jocelynaspa.

Nicole Alivojvodic Review The Little Dickens On Now At The Cultch Until December 24th
10 Dec
Back again this holiday season is The Cultch exclusive hit Little Dickens. Award winning puppeteer Ronnie Burkett brings the classic tale of A Christmas Carol to life with the quirky and beloved characters of the Daisy Theatre. Before you assume that this is a show for kids, be warned that it most certainly is not! Little Dickens is a raucous, adults-only holiday treat, combining a mastery of marionette puppetry, playful songs, and improvisation. The far from traditional characters mixed in with raunchy commentary and audience participation make for a unique and riotous night at the theatre.
The story follows faded Daisy diva, Esmé Massengill, in the role of miserly, drunken, bitter Esmé Scrooge as she encounters Dickens’ familiar characters (with a twist) on her journey to redemption. Burkett wonderfully captures the different voices of dozens of characters in this one-man show and earned a standing ovation on opening night! This showbiz version of the Dickens classic is performed exclusively for Cultch audiences so make sure you see it while it’s on.
Little Dickens is on now until December 24th. Get your tickets at The Cultch.

June Hunter Studio Sale November 30th – December 2nd
28 Nov
East Van artist, June Hunter, is hosting her Holiday Studio Sale this weekend. if you aren’t familiar with her work already, nature features prominently in June’s work especially crows. June has been busy working on new designs and was recently featured on CBC Radio about her fondness for crows and what she calls crow therapy. Which really in a nutshell is taking a break in nature and taking a moment to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us each and every day. Crows are, of course, an ever present sight in East Vancouver, so they are part of our ongoing scenery. June has again this year put together a City Crows Calendar which was mentioned in her interview on CBC Radio. Thus, they are now flying off the shelves, literally. So if you wish to grab one, best stop by this weekend, or visit her online shop which is open 24/7.
At this weekend’s Holiday Studio Sale, you can also expect to find a host of beautiful items including jewellery, throw cushions, totes, small prints, iPad covers, large scale wall art, tiles and much more. We always hope her rescue dog Geordie will be on hand to greet you. He rarely disappoints us. June Hunter’s studio is located at 2785 Parker Street (one block west of Renfrew – between Hastings St. and First Avenue). The Studio Sale takes place Friday, November 30th from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday, December 1st and Sunday, December 2nd from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
If you are not able to attend this weekend’s Holiday Studio Sale, we invite you check out her online shop which is open 24/7. You can also find some of June’s pieces at Doctor Vigari Gallery, 1816 Commercial Drive and Bird on A Wire Creations, 2535 Main Street in East Van as well as the Vancouver Art Gallery store downtown.
Purebread In Mount Pleasant – Carb Heaven
27 Nov
We’ve heard the hype about Purebread. We didn’t experience it though until recently when we ventured to their new Mount Pleasant location. If you are unfamiliar with the name, this business hails from Whistler and has a loyal and dedicated following. They did open a location in Gastown a couple of years ago, but this year opened a location in Mount Pleasant at 5 East 5th Avenue. It’s been on our radar to check out and we are so glad we did. We decided this was our spot to fuel up before taking on The Eastside Culture Crawl for the day. On entering Purebread, we saw the long line up of people happily waiting. No disgruntled people here. Most in line oogling all the items before them, it seemed to have a calming effect on everyone. For a first timer, it was a little daunting making a selection amongst a long line of people, but it seems the staff is used to those overwhelmed by the sheer number of options. Staff are quite understanding yet still adept at keeping the line moving. Having said that, if you aren’t quick, you could miss out on that one last item of whatever it is you are eyeing, but once that one item disappears, the good thing is something equally delicious will quickly take its place. Some of the rotating items on offer include a selection of house-baked breads, rustic baguettes, ciabatta as well as breakfast items bacon and egg brioche, zucchini bacon and cheese muffins, almond croissants, scones, coconut macaroons. Their sweets are every bit as drool worthy and include flourless brownies, meringues, macaroons, cookies the side of your hand, carrot cake, salted caramel bars and so much more. We sampled a couple of items and of course took some home. Nothing was a disappointment. The flourless brownie though a clear stand out. Whether you are eating in or doing take-out, this is a great spot. Many portions are large and easily divided up for sharing/tasting. Purebread is pure carb heaven. If you haven’t already made your way over, we recommend you make the trip to 5 East 5th Avenue.
