The Eastside Flea kicks off another year of markets featuring all things vintage at the Eastside Studios at 550 Malkin Avenue. First weekend kicks off March 4th and 5th from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and then every following weekend in March. You can expect to find over 50 local vendors with a host of vintage items alongside handmade local makers. If you get hungry after all that shopping, or need some sustenance before shopping, there will be a few food trucks on hand as well as an outdoor seating area. Admission is $5.
Vancouver Farmers Markets hosts two winter markets in East Vancouver. First up is the Hastings Park Farmers Market which returns for another year and happens every Sunday from November 6, 2022 to April 30, 2023. The market is located on the PNE Centregrounds and is always a popular market. Second up, is the Riley Park Farmers Market which carries on in the same location as the summer market at 50 East 30th & Ontario Street every Saturday from November 5, 2022 to March 25, 2023. Both markets run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and as always are jam packed with lots of great local goods. Be sure to stop by and support our local growers and makers. If you are looking to shop for the wacky, weird and the wonderful, you may wish to check out the Nightmare Before Christmas Market happening this weekend at the Croatian Cultural Centre, 3250 Commercial Drive. The event will host 79 vendors that celebrate Halloween handmade style. Along with a variety of vendors, you can also expect to find crafts for kids, face painting as well as performers. Admission is $3 for adults if you purchase tickets online and $4 at the door. Free entry for those 13 years of age and under. The event runs Saturday, October 8th from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm and Sunday, October 9th, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Stop by to get into the Halloween spirit.
This Friday, June 15th is the first Italian Market of the season. These outdoor markets are held monthly in the parking lot in front of the Italian Cultural Centre from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. They have a distinctly Italian taste to them which includes the food and the music. At the same time you will see many favourite local vendors in the mix with food, produce and handmade goods. Running along side this Italian Market this Friday, with be Pizza Making Workshops in Beaconsfield Park located directly behind the Italian Cultural Centre. You will have the opportunity to stretch and cook your own pizza with pizza master, Giueseppe Cortinovis, in their beautiful outdoor pizza oven. This is a hands-on event that is suitable for all ages. Two basic pizzas are being offered, but you are invited to bring or buy extra toppings from the market to make the pizza distinctly yours. Cost of the Pizza Making Workshop is $13 online or $15 at the event. There will be 4 pizza workshops starting at 5:00 pm. They will continue at 5:45 pm, 6:30 pm and 7:15 pm.
