Vegan Night Market March 23rd At The Waldorf Hotel

The Vegan Night Market hosted by Peaces is back at the Waldorf Hotel, 1489 East Hastings Street, on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Expect to find vendors with all things 100% plant based including food trucks and local vendors. The market happens indoors and outdoors from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. There will be cocktails, bonfires, live music and 30+ food brands on hand.  Admittance is by a $2 donation or by bringing canned goods. Kids are free.

Winter Farmer Markets In East Van From November 5, 2022 to April 30, 2023

Vancouver Farmers Markets hosts two winter markets in East Vancouver.  First up is the Hastings Park Farmers Market which returns for another year and happens every Sunday from November 6, 2022 to April 30, 2023. The market is located on the PNE Centregrounds and is always a popular market.  Second up, is the Riley Park Farmers Market which carries on in the same location as the summer market at 50 East 30th & Ontario Street every Saturday from November 5, 2022 to March 25, 2023.  Both markets run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and as always are jam packed with lots of great local goods. Tugboat Landing Artisan Market December 4th In SE Vancouver

Have you made your way down to the walking trails along the Fraser River in SE Vancouver?  If you have, you will come across an area called Tugboat Landing at the foot of Victoria Drive at East Kent Avenue South.  If you aren’t familiar with this area, it once housed tugboats at this landing on the Fraser River hence the name. It was redeveloped into a community of condos and townhomes that enjoy river front living.  The area is located on a public walkway and cycle path just steps away from Gladstone Park and less than a mile West of the new River District development.

Here you will find the 5th Annual Tugboat Landing Artisan Market which is back for another year.  This is a boutique artisan market that happens at 2010 East Kent Avenue at the foot of Victoria Drive.  Like many markets, this one didn’t happen last year. This year though they are ready to go with all Covid-safety protocols in place including vaccine cards and masking as well as a few less vendors to ensure distancing. Having said that, they still a great line up of vendors that make it fun and easy to shop for gifts in an inviting and cozy space.

Some of what you can expect to find include handmade artisan chocolates by Ladner Artisan Chocolates, custom dog wear by ScouterWear, jewellery by Cord & Stone and ILiveInEastVan will be on site with a selection of totes, t-shirts & toques.   Rawstic Handmade will also be on hand with warm and cozy Alpaca blankets. If you are looking to do some entertaining over the holidays, you will want to visit  Mad Laboratory Distilling who will be hand with their spirits. MadLab’s spirits will pair nicely with Koldie’s Mixers perfect for the next holiday get together with family and friends. Speaking of get togethers, who doesn’t love to have some baking on hand over the holidays? Swiss Bakery will be on site with Gingermen, Gingerwomen, Gingerbread House Kits, sugar cookies and German Stollen.  If you love handcrafted leather goods, be sure to check out DiG Leather which will be back showcasing their new custom leather accessories for E-bikes.  Local artist, Daniel Clegg, will be on site with oil on canvas and watercolours and Speak Art Glitter with prints, art cards, notebooks and more. Bower Fibre Goods will also be on hand with beautifully crafted textiles and LoveandLucyCo with candles, bath salts and gems stones. As you can see, lots of options to shop and support local this holiday season.   

As an added bonus, the fireplace will be on, so will the coffee, tea and hot cocoa along with some pre-packaged sweets. These items will be available by donation with all proceeds going to the Wildlife Rescue Association.  Hours are 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Indigenous Day – Trout Lake/John Hendry Park – June 21st

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day at Trout Lake.  There will be an all day celebration Friday, June 21st that kicks off with a pancake celebration and a friendship walk between 9:00 and 11:00 am.  From Noon to 5:00 pm you can find cultural performances, live music, dancing, canoe tours and activities for the kids.

TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival – The Imperial – June 21st Onward

The Vancouver Jazz Festival starts this Friday and The Imperial, 319 Main Street, has host to an amazing line of talent until July 1st. If you wish to see the full list of performances during the festival including free ones, visit TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

Parallel 49 Brewing Co. 7th Anniversary Party – June 21st 

This Friday, local craft brewer, Parallel 49 Brewing celebrates 7 years and they are having a party.  Beer garden to be exact with food trucks and a variety of $5 beers all the while spinning some tunes.  Fun happens at 1950 Triumph Street from 5:00 – 10:00 pm. No tickets required, just show up with 2 pieces of ID please, no minors at this event.

Corgi Races – Hastings Racecourse – June 22nd & 23rd 

Vancouver’s Hastings Racecourse plays host once again to a corgi dog race this Saturday and Sunday.   To view the races is free of charge. The winning pooch gets $500 in prize money and a Bosley’s prize pack.  The event kicks off at 1:15 pm Saturday and Sunday. There will also be food trucks, live music and food trucks on hand.

East Side Pride – Grandview Park – June 22nd

East Side Pride is a family oriented pride event happening in Grandview Park this Saturday from Noon to 6:00 pm.  You can expect to find local artists businesses alongside burlesque and drag performances. If you get hungry, there will be food trucks on hand. This is a free event. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Vancouver Market – Wise Hall – June 22nd

The Vancouver Market returns to the Wise Hall this Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. If you are looking for vintage, eclectic, or a new up and coming local maker, this is the place to be. Admission is $2.00.

Grease Sing-A-Long – June 22nd – Rio Theatre

The Rio Theatre is hosting a Grease Sing-A-Long this Saturday night. Lyrics will be on screen so you can follow along and there will be prizes for costumes. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the fun kicks off at 7:00 pm. For advance tickets, visit the Rio Theatre.

Strathcona Street Party – Strathcona – June 22nd

The Strathcona Street Party happens this Saturday, June 22nd from Noon to 9:00 pm at Campbell Avenue and East Hastings Street.  Check out the new mural that’s up, plus food trucks, live music, beer garden and more.

Summer Solstice Coffee House – Britannia Community Centre – June 23rd

Britannia Community Centre plays host to the Summer Solstice Coffee House this Sunday from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The event features live music, storytelling and, of course, coffee. This is a free event and everyone is welcome to attend.

Railtown Tailgate BBQ – Railtown Café – June 23rd

Once a month this summer, Railtown Café, 397 Railway Street, a Tailgate BBQ from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.  If you love BBQ, this is a definite spot to check out.  They will be BBQ’ing a variety of meats and offering corn on the cob, corn bread and a few different salads. Refreshments will be available. Cost is $27 per person or $17 for the vegetarian option).  Advance tickets purchased online at a complimentary $6 drink voucher. Also 7 days a week, you will find live music at the Libra Room on The Drive. Tangent Café hosts live jazz Sunday nights  from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Saturday, Pat’s Pub has live jazz Saturday afternoons from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, no cover.

Saturday is Riley Park Farmers Market at 30th & Ontario from 10 am – 2 pm and Trout Lake Farmers Market from 9 am – 2 pm at John Hendry Park. Out Again At The Inn – Havana Theatre – April 26th & 27th

This Friday and Saturday, Havana Theatre plays host to an original comedy Out Again At The Inn.  Mary and Marie run a busy bed and breakfast with a bit of help from an always high neighbor. Mary and Marie host a jam making contest and their least favourite guests come to say.  It’s a recipe for things going wrong.  Catch the production Friday & Saturday at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $20 and available online through Showpass.

The Annual Animation Show of Shows – Rio Theatre April 26th & 28th

If you love animation, the Rio Theatre plays host to the Animation Show of Shows.  It will feature 15 thought-provoking, poignant, and very funny animated shorts from around the world. Films are being shown Friday night  at 6:15 pm and Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm. For tickets, visit Rio Theatre.

Family Yoga – Trout Lake Community Centre – April 27th

Trout Lake Community Centre is hosting Family Yoga this Saturday with live music from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Cost is $1.

Trev Deeley’s For The Animals – April 27th

If you love animals, you will want to stop by the Second Annual Trev Deeley Day For Animals happening this Saturday at the Trev Deeley dealership located at 1875 Boundary Road.  It’s a great opportunity to learn more about many of the local rescue organizations doing great work in the community. Event happens between 11:00  am to 3:00 pm.

The Vancouver Market – Wise Hall – April 27th

The Vancouver Market is back at the Wise Hall this Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Stop by and find vintage by Calico Vintage, handmade jewellery by the Burning Circle, cool handmade bags by Estylo and if you have been eyeing macramé plant holders, Four Knots will be on hand with a selection. Stop by the Wise, 1882 Adanac Street to see all that will be on hand.

Earth Day – Everett Crowley Park – April 27th 

Volunteers gather every year to plant trees in Everett Crowley Park in SE Vancouver. Everett Crowley Park is a 38-hectare large forested park and if you don’t know, was once a garbage dump. It is now Vancouver’s 5th largest park.  This Saturday you are invited to help plant one of a 1,000 trees from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. There will also be face painting for the kids and the opportunity to make your own chia pet courtesy of the folks at River District.

Hop Circuit – Yeast Van – April 28th

Hop Circuit returns to Yeast Van this Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. 17 local craft breweries and distillers will open their doors for tours and tastings.  Our fav spot for a tour is Odd Society Spirits, but they are all worthy.

Vancouver Pet-Sitting Swap – Trout Lake – April 28th

A pet sitting swap is happening this Sunday at Trout Lake Dog Beach between 3:00 and 5:00 pm.  If you have a pet and need some help sitting, organizers are connecting you with other pet owners nearby or wannabe pet owners. This is a free event, but registration is required via Eventbrite.

Jesus Christ: The Lost Years – Havana Theatre – March 15th & 16th

If you ever wondered what Jesus might have been up to between the ages of 13 and 30 well this weekend’s your chance.  Monster Theatre brings Jesus Christ: The Lost Years to Havana Theatre Friday and Saturday nights.  Tickets are available online $15-$20 through Showpass.

Salvage Vancouver is again hosting a Wood Market. If you are looking for reclaimed wood for projects and or renovations, definitely worth stopping by 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.

First Pick Handmade – Heritage Hall – March 16th & 17th

21st Century Flea Market – Croatian Cultural Centre – March 17th

The 21st Century Flea Market is back at the Croatian Cultural Centre this Sunday. 185 tables with a wide range of items including antiques, sports items, paintings, collectibles, toys, dolls, books and a whole lot more.  Event happens 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Admission is $5 at the door.
