Comedy With Ed Hill – Havana Theatre – February 22nd & 23rd
Havana Theatre hosts some unique comedy this Friday and Saturday night. An emerging young comic, Ed Hill, takes the stage for 2 shows on Friday and Saturday night. Ed, originally from Taiwan, has performed all over the world has received numbers Best Comedian accolades as well as being named Comic to Watch in 2018. Tickets are $12. James Johnstone History Walk – Strathcona – February 23rd
James Johnstone is back offering his East End History Walk this Saturday, February 23rd. Tour starts at The Heatley, 696 East Hastings at 10:00 am and runs for 2 1/2 – 3 hours. Cost is $20 per person. To reserve your spot, email James at historywalks@gmail.com.
JFL Northwest Presents Nicole Byer – Rio Theatre – February 23rd
Looking for some comedy this weekend? Nicole Byer is performing two shows this Saturday night at the Rio Theatre. Nicole is an actress, comedian and writer who hosts the baking show Nailed It currently on Netflix. She also has a sitcom loosely based on her life. This weekend’s show is called Why Won’t You Date Me? Sounds like a fun night of comedy. Tickets are $26.50, shows at 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm. For tickets, visit the Rio Theatre.
Eastside Flea – 550 Malkin Avenue – February 23rd and 24th
Looking to do a bit of wandering this weekend? Why not check out the Eastside Flea happening this weekend in Strathcona. Lots of cool vintage finds, a bar and some cool vendors to check out, or just hang out with friends and food trucks at the ready in case you get hungry. Happens Saturday and Sunday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
7th Annual Oscar Party – El Camino’s – February 24th
El Camino’s is hosting their 7th Annual Oscar Party this Sunday, February 24th. Festivities get under way as of 3:00 pm which the red carpet madness gets under way. The awards ceremony doesn’t begin until 5:00 pm.
Community Skate – PNE Agrodome – February 24th
It hasn’t quite been cold enough to skate on local rinks, but you can grab your ice skates and head to the PNE Agrodome this Sunday. A Community Skate will be happening from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cost is $3 for adults 19+, Senior 65+ and Youth 13-18 $2.50, Child 3-12 $2.00 and 2 years and under free. Reminder, you do need to bring your own skates & helmets. Rentals will not be available.
Red’s Annual Garage Sale/Swap Meet – Trev Deely – February 24th
If you love motorcycles and tinkering with them, then you likely already know about this event. In case you don’t, the Trev Deely Dealership at 1875 Boundary Road is hosting Red’s Annual Garage Sale and Swap Meet this Sunday. It’s an indoor event with space for up to 65 vendors. The sale happens from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. If you are looking to see if they have any spaces left, you can contact: tdhd@trevdeeley.com.
BYOB Bike Sale – Trev Deely – February 24th
Now if the Swap Meet above isn’t enough to entice you over, we do hear there will be a BBQ happening on site with proceeds going to charity. AND their parking lot will play host to BYOB Bike Sale. Looking for more live music, did you know The Heatley in Strathcona regularly features live music? Every Sunday they offer bluegrass music with brunch 11 am – 3 pm.
Also 7 days a week, you will find live music at the Libra Room on The Drive. Tangent Café hosts live jazz Sunday nights from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Saturday, Pat’s Pub has live jazz Saturday afternoons from 3-7 pm, no cover.
Looking to shop local? Be sure to check out one of the farmer markets happening this weekend. Saturday is Riley Park Farmers Market 10 am – 2 pm.
