First Pick Handmade At The Heritage Hall March 31st

If you are looking for things to do this long weekend, we invite you to check out First Pick Handmade at the Heritage Hall this Sunday. This amazing market will host 33 local designers that create a variety of handmade items from fashion to skin care to cosmetics. Some of the designers on hand include Jessica Redditt Design, Irit Sorokin, Bukoro Bag Co., What’s Her Face, After Times Art, Asiri Cosmetics, Mossy Mind Herbs to name a few. Whether you are looking for something for your home, for yourself, or a gift, there will be lots to choose from. Be sure to stop by and check out all the amazing talent. First Pick Handmade happens Sunday, March 31st from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. Admission is $3.00 at the door.

Eastside Flea Spring Markets

In case you hadn’t heard, The Eastside Flea Spring Markets are in full swing every weekend until March 23, 204. They are in their new space at 1101 Union Street with 50+ vendors, food trucks, photo booth, patio seating. They will have lots of vintage along side handmade items. You can also expect find local craft brews, Spring cocktails & non-alcoholic beverages. Admission is $5.00. Market runs from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Bunny Bliss Meditation At The Bunny Café February 26

You are invited to the Bunny Café Vancouver on February 26th for Bunny Bliss Meditation.  An experienced instructor will take you through a series of gentle movements and share techniques to connect you with your breath.   The event will also feature bunny snuggles and feeding veggies to the bunnies on hand.  Over the course of the hour, you will meditate for 30 – 45 minutes. The event kicks off at 7:00 pm.  Beginners are welcome. Cost is $30 and you can book your spot online at Bunny Cafe Vancouver.

 has lined up another round of great cooking and baking classes this New Year. If you haven’t already experienced one of their classes, it is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening with some like-minded food lovers. If you have participated, you know it’s a great way to pick up some knowledge and great tips in the kitchen. Added bonus is that after each cooking and/or baking class all the participants are offered a 10% discount for purchases made the day of your class. COOKIES WITH LIZZY: EAT YOUR HEART OUT – February 4, 2024

Chef Lizzy Wong from Butter Baked Goods with be on hand to teach you how to decorate cookies for that special occasion. Chef Wong will be using classic Royal Icing Techniques for this class. Specifically, you will learn about consistencies, colour, piping and much more so you have some showpiece cookies for Valentine’s Day. On arrival, you will be greeted with a mimosa as well as baked goods and small bites to nibble on during class. Plus, each participant will leave beautifully decorated cookies to take home.

OPA! A NIGHT IN THE GREEK ISLANDS –

The 14th Annual Hot Chocolate Festival January 13 to February 14

The Greater Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival kicks off January 13th and runs till February 14th in various locations around Metro Vancouver. For 2024, there are a total of 105 locations participating in the event which will offer some 162 different types of hot chocolate. Organizers have created a great virtual map so you can see all the spots participating as well as an alphabetical listing which sets out which locations are offering vegan, dairy free and gluten free options. In East Van, you’ll see a number of spots clustered in Mount Pleasant and in the Main Street/Riley Park area. In SE Vancouver, you will find a new participant Boketto Tea Bar located in River District which is a great little spot if you haven’t been. You will also find hot chocolate offerings in the Grandview Woodland area at To Live For Bakery & Cafe and Mah Milk Bar. Be sure to check out the map and some of the delish offerings and support these great local spots.

Paul Romhany an award winning magician takes the stage at the York Theatre February 10, 2024 to perform Enchantments Unveiled.   Paul Romhany has brought his shows to 125 countries and has won the prestigious Grand Master of Magic award. He states to have one of the most original acts in the world today.

The first half of his show features mind blowing magic and mind-reading blended with comedy, while the second half is a magical tribute to Charlie Chaplin. Paul has spent a lifetime developing his act and is considered the best Chaplin impersonator in the world. Sip & Paint Party At East Van Brewing January 21, 2024

You are invited to unleash your inner artist with the Sunshine Team Paint Nite Vancouver.   They will be hosting a 2 hour sip and paint party at East Van Brewing Co. 1675 Venables Street on Sunday, January 21, 2024.  You will be provided all the supplies along with instructions and guidance.   You will, of course, get to take your masterpiece home with you. Tickets are $39 and available through Eventbrite.

East Van Dumpling Fest Crawl January 17, 2024

As part of the Dine Out Vancouver Festival, Vancouver Foodster aka Richard Wolak, invites you to join him on a self-guided tour to experience some delicious dumplings.  The East Van Dumpling Fest Crawl is set for January 17, 2024 with a starting point at Grandview Park at 6:00 pm. From there you will visit a variety of restaurants and be offered a Tasting Plate of dumplings at each stop. They have quite the variety of eats lined up including Chinese dumplings, Italian gnocchi, Nepalese momos, Mexican tamales, Japanese gyoza and more. This is a great way to check out a variety of different spots with other like minded folks.   Tickets for this event are now available with early bird pricing available until December 24, 2023 at $69 per person. After that, tickets are available for $79 per person until January 14, 2024. Blind Date At The Tightrope Theatre December 5 – 23

When you go to the theatre, you don’t exactly expect to be the star of the show, but in this show you may be.

Tightrope Theatre invites you to the ultimate holiday treat a Blind Date with Mimi. Come experience the exhilaration and excitement as Mimi picks out a blind date from the audience. This is a fly by the seat of your pants show combining improv, theatre and is part social experiment. No two shows are the same which is half the fun. The show has had sold out runs in New York, London’s West End and Toronto and it’s first night in Vancouver is sold out. Seasonal Ornament Making With Laura Vanderlinde November 30 to December 14

Looking to get crafty this holiday season? If you are interested in making your own Christmas ornaments, you may wish to check out this upcoming workshop led by Strathcona potter, Laura Vanderlinde.   You are invited to create your own designs with techniques that will be taught during the course of the workshops.   Bring only your imagination and clay which is purchased on the first day of your class.   This class runs during the day on Thursdays beginning November 30th at 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and going until December 14th.   Cost is $114 not including clay.   To register, visit www.vanrec.ca.
