Mrs. Warren’s Profession The Rickshaw Theatre April 22 – 27

7 Apr

RickshawMrs.WarrensMrs. Warren’s Profession is a theatre event being presented by Alley Theatre starting April 22nd for a four day run.  This play was originally written in 1893 by George Bernard Shaw and was originally banned for its controversial subject matter for over 30 years.  Alley Theatre invites you to a post modern revisitation of this famous play which will include live music by Juno award-winning musicians Gentle Party featuring Shanto Acharia, Meredith Bates and Elisa Thorn at the Rickshaw Theatre, 254 E. Hastings Street.

The play centers around a young woman who discovers her privileged lifestyle was paid for by her mother’s sex work. The two women enter a battle over what it means to be a modern woman, a working woman and just plain be a woman.  Tickets are available for $20 in advance at Brown Paper Tickets or $25 at the door (cash only). $3 from every ticket will be donated to WISH Drop-In Centre Society and PACE Society.  Show starts at 8:00 pm sharp each evening.
