Lantern Procession Around Trout Lake August 28, 2019

LostSoulsSouthHilltin-can lanterns hangingWe know many people search our site looking for the Illuminares Lantern Festival and Procession from days gone past.  We hear from many people that are disappointed that this large scale event no longer takes place. The Illuminares Lantern Festival took on a life of its own over its 25 year run. It drew large crowds upwards of 20,000 people to John Hendry Park.   Although this event is no longer, you may be pleased to know that Trout Lake Community Centre will host a lantern procession this Wednesday around Trout Lake at dusk. The procession coincides with the last evening of their Outdoor Summer Concert Series. This year that happens on Wednesday, August 28th.  This lantern procession will be a much smaller scale than that of the Illuminares Lantern Festival, but YOU have the opportunity make it what it is. If you want to make lanterns the day of the event, you are welcome to stop by the arts and craft station between 6:00 pm to 8:15 pm.   You can, of course, make your own at home and bring it to the event.  If you get hungry, Arturo’s Mexican 2 Go food truck will be on hand for the evening.  Or stop by and enjoy the last outdoor summer concert with Checo Tohomaso. The lantern procession follows the conclusion of the concert.
