East FEAST (Funding Emerging Artists through Sustainable Tactics) is a micro-funding event that supports artists living and working in the neighbourhoods of Grandview-Woodland and Strathcona. East FEAST relies on community engagement to be successful.
East FEAST hosts a community meal that raises funds through ticket sales to the event which in turn directly funds an artist or artist group. Community members will be invited to participate by attending a meal in support of local artists. The FEAST is scheduled for June 28, 2015 2-4 pm. Those who attend will enjoy food specifically created and prepared for the event by a local chef/caterer as well as entertainment. You will also have the opportunity to meet and listen to 3 artists each of whom will make a 5-7 minute presentation during the event. At the end of the FEAST, attendees will vote on which artist they would like to see funded. The chosen artist will receive a grant from the funds raised by the event ticket sales of up to $1000.
What they are looking for now is local artists to apply to participate in East FEAST. Applicants must work or live in Grandview-Woodlands or Strathcona community. Also, proposed projects must take place in Grandview-Woodland and Strathcona neighbourhoods. One artist will receive funding of $1,000 and honorariums of $100 will be presented to the two semi-finalists. Are you a local artist with a great idea for a project in the specified areas?
