PNE Pumpkin Promenade – Hastings Park Sports Court-November 1
If you missed the post that went viral on our Facebook page, the PNE is hosting a free event that has win win all over it. Bring your Halloween pumpkins (minus markings, candles and wax) to Hastings Park Sports Court on Friday, November 1st between 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Organizers will provide flameless candles to display the array of pumpkins. After the event, volunteers will take the pumpkins to local farms to be used for food as part of a food waste aversion project.
Monster Merlot – Figaro Garden Centre – November 1
If you love gardening, you are invited to stop by Figaro Garden Centre this Friday between 3:00 and 6:00 pm to talk plants, bulbs, winter preparation for your garden, whatever garden wise and enjoy a glass of Merlot.
All Souls Night Closing Procession – Mountain View Cemetery – November 1
All Souls Night is an opportunity to commemorate those we’ve lost. This Friday, November 1st concludes the event with a closing ceremony at Mountain View Cemetery between 8:30 and 9:30 pm. Bring a candle and a memory. This event is free and everyone is welcome to participate.
Winter Farmers Market Kick Off – Riley Park – November 2
Riley Park Farmers Market kicks off its winter season and celebrates 10 years with over 100 local farmers and producers at this Saturday’s market. Stop by 30th and Ontario between 10:00 and 2:00 pm to support local.
Parade of Lost Souls – Britannia Public Library – November 2
The Parade of Lost Souls, an iconic East Van event and a personal favourite for many reasons, but one particular one is community involvement it takes to put on this production. It truly takes a village and the last few years The Dusty Flowerpot took over the festivities where the Public Dreams Society left off. Come celebrate the Day of The Dead and honour all those souls, past and present this Saturday, November 2nd. The evening starts off with a procession from the Britannia Public Library at 7:00 pm. Wear your best costume, marine life is the theme this year, but get creative. Everyone does. All ages welcome. Festivities continue (we expect) around Britannia Community Centre during the event with various performances, music and flash mobs.
Parade of Lost Souls After Party – Wise Hall – November 2
Participants of the Parade of Lost Souls Festival gather together to redefine their ideas of community engagement; to reconnect with one another and celebrate the cycles of life and death. After the parade, the Wise Hall plays host to the Parade of Lost Souls After Party. Bring your costumes, marine themed if you can and partake in an East Van’s tradition. Fun kicks off at 9:00 pm. Tickets are $25 in advance or $35 at the door. Advance tickets available through Brown Paper Tickets.
Back To The 90s – Waldorf Hotel – November 2
If you love music for the 90s and dressing up, the Waldorf Hotel has the Halloween Party for you. Tickets available through Eventbrite for $12.

Ilhan Saferali Quartet – Café Deux Soleils – November 3
Looking to end the weekend on a relaxing note, the Ilhan Saferali Quartet is performing at Café Deux Soleils on Sunday evening. This is a young and up and coming musical talent who has worked with Grammy and Juno award winning musicians. He makes the rounds around Vancouver and this Sunday is a great opportunity to check him out on The Drive at Café Deux Soleils

What do you do with your pumpkin after Halloween? There is of course composting, a very good option, but there is another option this year. The PNE is doing something very cool that reduces waste, does something positive for the environment and animals and is fun. On Friday, November 1st between 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm you are invited to bring your pumpkin(s) to a FREE PNE PUMPKIN PROMENADE at the Hastings Park Sports Court. All the pumpkins will be lit up and put on display. After the event, volunteers for Pumpkins For Pigs will round up all the pumpkins which will be delivered to local farms and made into treats for animals as part of a Food Waste Diversion Project. Tim Horton’s Kaslo will have hot chocolate and snacks on hand, but you are asked to bring your own cup.
You are hereby invited to a fun night out! The Theatre Replacement, a local theatre company, is hosting their annual fundraiser Saturday, November 16th at the Russian Hall, 600 Campbell Avenue. Come buckle up for a wild ride of Road Trip Episode Me Love Bingo! Kyle Loven will be hosting the event in a gold costume we hear for what is expected to be a campy night of games, amazing prizes, sweet tunes and zero speeding tickets. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the fun and games get under way at 8:00 pm. Admission is $20, but note bingo papers are a separate purchase at the door for $15.
